John Jackson welcomed to the Burton team

Burton Welcomes John Jackson To The Team | TransWorld SNOWboarding

Quote:
As the grand finale to Burton’s annual fall meeting today, the company announced that pro snowboarder John Jackson will now ride for Burton, representing both hardgoods and softgoods. Burton employees, team riders and industry guests were the first to hear the news, breaking out in cheers and applause all around as John joined his fellow Burton pro riders on stage.

John is widely recognized as one of the most dynamic riders in the world and makes it look easy to dominate backcountry terrain. At this year’s TransWorld Riders’ Poll Awards, John became the first snowboarder in history to win ‘Video Part of the Year’ twice. And he didn’t stop there. John also took home his second consecutive ‘Rider of the Year’ award. This year, John continues to blow minds with his part in the highly acclaimed movie, Art of Flight.

Now that he’s riding for Burton, John will keep doing what he does best - snowboard and film video parts. Like all Burton team riders, John will also now play an instrumental role in developing and testing Burton product, including Burton’s [ak] outerwear line, Custom series snowboards, SLX boots and Diode EST bindings.

“It’s rad to be a part of such an insane company and team who’ve paved the way in snowboarding since the beginning,” said John Jackson. “I can’t wait for the snow to fly to test out some new gear and let ‘er rip. It’s an honor.”
What are your guys thoughts on this?

Didn't four square sell forum to burton back in '05?

What does this mean for forum snowboards?

They're all owned by Burton as far as I know: Foursquare, Forum, Special Blend, Anon, RED and Analog and I heard they bought a surfboard company as well as Alien Workshop. I liked JJ on the Forum team, but whatever. This is the same team (Peter Line) who got testy with JP Walker and kicked him out. They still have some solid riders ... Moore, Sauve and Bell are all pretty sick.

JJ was an arrogant prick when I met him a couple years ago. I couldn't care less about him. Nothing will change but his paycheck and what movies he appears in.

That's surprising. I hung out with him and Mark Landvik for awhile at the Seattle AoF premier and he was nothing but awesome.

I don't pay attention to endorsements. If I met Shaun White himself on the hill, I wouldn't get his autograph.... I would ask him for some snowboarding lessons. Then I would ask if he gets pissed off when people mistake him for Carrot Top.

Forum has made it pretty clear that they are not going to give support to big mtn AK type riders ( allowing Blauvelt and Rusty Ockermen to leave) ... my guess if JJ waa not happy with the lack of support for what he wanted to do and was looking to bolt ... Burton probably felt he was too valuable to lose and moved him over to the parent company ... hope he flms with Absinthe ... him Gigi and Muller in AK would be nuts
