A truly sad day in the history of Taos.

Enjoy scraping the trails to ice snowboarders. Thanks for ruining TSV!

Too bad. It was nice while it lasted. Welcome boarders and thanks in advance for scraping the snow off the hill.

The knuckledraggers will ruin another place. Congrating at trail intersections, smoking their fool heads off, going sideways down the mountain, etc. I hope after the first 3 novice boarders die on the West Ridge, you'll reconsider.
yeah were definatly the immature ones

Here is the response I posted as a reply on their blog:

-Sb's 45 (at best) degrees of sight downhill
-Skier's 180 degrees plus downhill
Any of you rocket punks want to challeng this Engineer?
Fact: the average sb'd pushes more fluff down the mountain than the tractor grooming the runs.
First off, you make huge leaps in assumption here. The newbie rider and skier alike are the ones who are at you less than a 45 degree angle down the slope and both equally plow the snow. The advanced rider and skier alike will point it down the hill and actually carve some turns....your "fact" is bunk and you are a fool.

Fact: you will ruin Taos
Fact: you will hack the moguls
Fact: you will scrape the internediates into ice
Again, you are proving yourself to be a bigoted fool who is either intelectually lazy or dishonest. Again, the issue is not one of boarder VS skier, rather it is the overall skill level. The newbie boarder and skier alike are the ones doing this. As an advanced rider myself, I negotiate you precious moguls with ease and ride through the troughs better than many skiers.

Fact: you will dis-regard any respectuful behavior expected at this resort
You are being completety dishonest again based upon you bias. There are rude and disrespectfull people in the world and it matters not what they have strapped to their feet. Your issue is not with snowboarders, rather with people who had no parental guidance on social behaviuor. Sadly, teenagers are the worst offenders and some are skiers. You need to stop being a hypocryte.

Ending...I'm I black man so your reference to the civil rights movement is extremely weak and shows ignorance.
What does race have to do with anything and why do you feel the need to wear it on your sleeve as though that gives you some special insight that only a black man might have...you sire are a closet racist.
You do not get the Civil Rights analogy? Look closer; this resort is operating by lease on U.S. Forest Service land that is federally managed by our government by the people, of, the people, for the people. That land is public land and everyone as a U.S. citizen has equal rights and access. To deny that right is a clear violation of Constitutional law. If that land were privately owned, then there would be wiggle room on that one.

Please challenge me mr. physics....
There is no contest...challenging you is akin to the Special Olympics....your arguments are empty and foolish....just have the intengrity to be honest and just say you hate snowboarders because you are a bigoted jerk and don`t cop out like the coward you are by trying to make stupid "facts" that are baseless......

People are for sure narrow minded. I dated a girl briefly who does not like snowboarders...Her narrow mindedness did stop there, so we no longer date. I had thought about heading down to taos for the opening day on the 19th, but I think it is going to be a mess with a bunch of I want to prove a point behavior. I agree with snowwolf overall, but do worry a bad tone will be set on that weekend for sure...

Unreal. What does he actually OWN the mountain? I actually just hit the slopes about a month ago. I tried skiing and it took me two trips down the bunny hill then I was good to go on the greens and blues (east coast) I was going down the blacks on my 2nd day. I too felt that skiing was way to easy. Snowboarding it took me 6 hours of hard knocks on the bunny slopes and took me 3 or 4 more times out to just do garlands down the black diamonds. It takes way more patience to learn to snowboard than it to does to ski.

I prefer not to think of it as skier&snowboarder but as Snow Sport Enthusiast, because i made friends with skiers on the mountain as I have with Snowboarders, there is no difference in personality by what's strapped to your feet, I see snowboarder elitists more than I see skier elitists. By that I mean Snowboarders that insult skier all the time, thinking they need to stop skiing. I have plenty of stories of boarders and skiers being assholes.

Point is, we're both on the mountain, we're both there to enjoy it, what difference does it make what's strapped to our feet?

What a jerkoff. I bet you he's from some Beverly Hills mansion and gets his ass wiped by good 'ol Jenkins daily.
There is only one thing that he said that had any truth to it at all- moguls.
In all of my life, I've been taken out by 1 snowboarder on the mountain. He apologized and it was a complete accident. I have been taken out by at least 5 skiers and they all were pricks about it.
Last time I checked, snowboarders didn't wear spandex and turtle necks under Old Navy fleece vests. Dorks? You decide.
This guy obviously got his ass kicked by a boarder or something. I wouldn't mind repeating it, but I think he's had enough punishment by looking like a gaper on the mountain.

idk anything about this thread yet but i just read the post about that skier dude and i gotta say LOL!!!
if i ever met this guy im gonna sag my ass off. and heel click my "mucklucks" till i cant fucking move.
if i saw this dude on the hill i'd spray im with snow, even though that just backs up his theory about sb's being douches im fine with that cus i feel he deserves it.
how dare he think that the mountain belongs to skiers only. snowboarding is what is keeping snowspoarts alive. if snowboarding was never invented i believe that resorts all over would be closing down. you need us. think about what you say before you say it.

hello you buggers!

and so i just got back from austria, where i was able to enjoiy blue skies and bottomless slush!
(yar global climate change is a hoax!)

anyways, the most striking element of my trip, was the huge efforts people took to identify who was a skier and who were 'boarders'. i mean everytime, everyone..... whenever something negative occurred or was regarded, ie, someone complaining about a chairlift queue jumper, or a bar brawl, or a crash.... it was always assumed that a snowboarder was responsible.

when some ham slices 'vanished' from our chalet fridge, it was (rightly) attributed to the snowboarders. however, when that which was taken in error was replaced many times over, it was coz they were 'nice people'.

and then it struck me. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SKIERS AND SNOWBOARDERS!

skiers care about whether you ski or ride, to the extent that they will ask.
snowboarders will be so 'amped' just to be on the hill, that they do not care enuff to feel the need to ask.

and so i suggest that, just as with terrarism and bullshit advertising, marketing and branding..... dickheaded skier types will simply cease to exist, if you take no notice of them.

just ride!
