agree with Paolo there, most of us just want to enjoy our time on the mountain and RIDE!

Funny. Last week I was riding and 'caught a chair lift with a couple of skiiers and they had the gall to say, "Snowboarders care too much about looking cool when we're just trying to have fun." But the whole skiier/snowboarder rivalry seems to be dying out... hopefully by next season I won't have to try so hard not to laugh in the face of such comments.

the argument about snowboarders riding with reckless abandonment is one of the funniest things i've ever heard. in my 2nd or 3rd season, i was riding and enjoying my nice, tight line carving down a blue run. suddenly, i hear this shout from behind me: "LOOOOOK OUUUUUTTTTT!" this was followed by a skier crashing into me from behind, completely undercutting me and causing me to land on my back and whack my head. thankfully, i was wearing a helmet. i was so angry i wanted to grab the ski that this asshole left next to me before his 50 ft slide down the run and whack him over the head with it. if anyone should have been yelling look out it should have been me. courteously, however, i handed him his ski, gave him the stink eye and rode away. if it weren't for me, this douche would have been sidestepping his way up the run for a good 15 minutes trying to retrieve his ski. i remind skiers of this courteous practice by snowboarders every time one of them tries to lay the rude snowboarder argument on me. would be nice if skiers would stop cutting me off on catwalks too and maybe pay more attention to their surroundings.

i'm not trying to talk crap about skiers, but it seems like my snowboard gets tapped by skis about a hundred times every time im in a lift line, and they don't seem to notice doing it at all. do you guys have this slight disturbance also, or am i just surrounded by dumb people?

I wouldn't call 'em dumb, I'd say inconsiderate. Most of the time the people I notice bump into my gear are renters and kids.

I like how he ended the rant by saying video games make you stupider. Video games require patience, and so does snowboarding. Standing up after bruising your knees for the 8th time that day despite wearing kneepads requires patience. I hardly ever fell down when I used to ski.

I've never met anybody with this anti-snowboarder attitude, but I have met snowboarders who have a problem with skiers. My first snowboard instructor kept saying over and over that skiers don't like snowboarding because it isn't "graceful." Every time I fell down she said this, she was acting like I was doing badly because I was too much of an "elegant skier" or whatever. When I first learned a heelside turn she told me to go straight for this cabin. So I did, and then I asked how I stop and she didn't answer. I had to fall on purpose to avoid hitting the cabin with my face. That lesson sucked.

Yeah, she does not sound like a good instructor. I dont even put a student on the chairlift until we have done some one footed glides and have the concept of stopping down.

I have run into attitudes on both sides and they are equally stupid. Some of the best times I have riding at work is with a group of fellow snowboard and ski instructors. We all have a blast and no ones cares what we have on our feet.

you know what i hate about snowboarders.....? when they sit smack bang in the middle of the piste. this is multiplied by a gazillion, when it occurs just over the brow of a hill / roller.
i request that whenever such obstacles are encountered, you blast them in snow. they let us down.

you know what i hate about skiers......? nothing. i simply do not care enough about them to notice them. let them say, do, think what they like.

you know what i hate about ski lines.....? the way people will let their nose tips dig and scrap all over the tail of my plank. the solution i have found, is to lift the board up to about mid knee height and then slam it back down. if it lands on their ski / board / foot..... tough titties!

and if someone rear ended me on the hill and lost a ski in the process, well i gotta say, i would pick up that ski and fling it as far as i could up hill and into the trees; then i'd tell them, 'go fetch'.

those uphill of you are obligated to avoid those down hill of them. if they cannot, then they do not belong there.

but it ain't as if i get stroppy about any of this
