trust me, it was tempting. this guy had absolutely no control over what he was doing and had no business on that run, especially since he couldn't even make a turn to avoid the 3-5 ft of space i was taking up on the run. i'm a very patient and non-violent person, but if i'd gotten hurt in the process, it might have been time to throw hands....and skis.

well i am not such a patient type, but i am defo non-violent.... there are very few things out there that would undermine my composure enuff to tempt me into giving anyone a slap (even MPD! ) but when riding, i can let adrenaline fuel my mental and an encounter with a dickhead on the hill, would no doubt provoke efforts to get under their skin.

i always prefer to mind fuck people into dealing with their own 'wanna throw a punch' demons; few things are more effective at leaving a schmeggy taste in the mouth than forcing someone to come to terms with their fears and desires.

never throw the first punch fellow riders! that's what a skier would do

Its interesting how riding effects people differently, reading your account about the adrenaline and how it makes you react. Riding has the opposite effect on me. A lot of shit that drives me nuts in everyday life does`nt even register when I am out on the hill. I actually am more mellow and things bother me less. I have been run into by an equal number of riders and skier, it come with the territory. I myself have slid into someone; not recently since I have become a decent rider, but shit happens. The only time I get pissed off over a collision is the asshat who does`nt bother to stop to see if everyone is ok or says, I`m sorry, my bad. Sadly, I have to say more of our fellow boarders fall into that category but the demographic is usually a teenager running in their posse.

yeah i hear you man. riding has a calming effect on me, it's like that white snow has some kind of narcotic effect...only time i lost it was early this season, first time out on my new deck, and some bitchass 30 year old frat boy type comes ripping into the lift area so fast he plows his heel edge into my board and takes a one-inch chunk off my tail-toe side. he's laughing so hard with his buddies that he barely mumbles a "sorry dude". you wouldn't think so, but those teenagers with the og-style that people like to hate on actually have better board control than older male yahoos, who are probably newer to the game and whatever they lack in skill they try to compensate in doucheosity. only time in my two seasons i was ready to throw down on the mountain. hope it doesn't happen again, talk about a buzz-kill

Yeah, you have a good point...I certainly don`t mean to say all as a blanket statement...my bad on that. There are tons of teenagers who do ride with respect and courtesy. I agree, one of my pet peves is people who dick around in the lift line; if you want to screw around buttering and popping flat, stationary 180`s get out of the line where we are all packed together.

Micheal Henningsen was a local arts critique for our alternative paper "the Alibi" before he wrote for the "IQ". He's pretty much considered an asshole from what I can tell, people in the downtown club and bar scene don't speak very well of him.
So your take on this article is spot on!!

Let me add one thing, whenever people use "my" to claim any ownership over snow, moguls and access, we all know that this person is likely a walking anus, with arms and legs attached.

Bottom line is this, he has lost his exclusive claim to Taos, and for that matter anyone claiming to own that mountain should be reminded that it is US National Forest land, with any original territorial claim belonging to the Taos Pueblo people, naturally being there before any Blake family member.

Try not to let these people get to you, don't let them ruin your time, and don't forget that the snowboarding industry has been credited with revolutionizing their sport with shaped skis (that dipshit Henningsen rides on) from snowboard designs and our clothing steez has saved an industry from horrible fasion trends resulting in sales slumps.

He will not be at Taos tomorrow, and with any luck will move to Utah to be with his
kind.

By the way he now works for the NM State Economic Dept which is public information available at:
New Mexico Economic Development Department :: Enhancing the Lifestyle of all New Mexicans
Office of the Secretary - Public Information Officer

Work phone: (505) 476-3747
Cell phone: (505) 231-1488

.....things always have a way of working out eh?

!!!!TOMORROW TAOS IS FREE!!!!

I even work with a couple of ancient ski instructors who still hang on to these attitudes and no one can stand these people. Thank God that most of today`s skiers see us boarders as fellow "snow sports enthusiasts". Every now and then you still run into one of these Methuselahs on the hill sadly. What this moron fails to understand is that as an industry and a sport, skiing was dying out. It is snowboarding that has revitalized the entire snowsports industry. Without snowboarding, things like sidecut skis, twin tip skis and freestyle skiing would not even exist. This pindick is probably still on his grandpa`s wooden, narrow straight skis without edges or sidecuts....

It's still alive, the attitude I mean..just take it with humour.
Got on a chair with 2 skiers last sunday and the first o ne goes: "How many bones you broke already on that thing"?
"none" I answered " but I did broke a leg on skis..I skied 12 years before switching".

Most of them never tried snowboarding, see the kids learning and scraping down the slopes and think that we all ride like that...when snowplowing is the norm for every skier and takes down as much snow as scraping.
