I used to snowboard a lot when I was younger but never really got into it. Then around 5 years ago my friend showed me the video Streblo - by crapneto(Robjn Taylor.) I was entertained but then around 4 years ago, I watched the video again, and that time I went onto their website to find more videos. I skipped most of the snowboarding stuff but, after going on their website almost every day to watch videos, I started watching their snowboard videos. That stuff made snowboarding seem more fun then I've usually seen it, and motivated me to actually learn how to snowboard and enjoy it. Eventually I started watching Sandbox videos, and just kept moving on from their. Thats pretty much it, so how did you get into snowboarding?

skied forever....tried a board for fun once in 99 in Italy....moved here...nothing since 2003..then we started taking the kids on the snow and I rented a board just for the hell of it....to see how hard it was to learn.
And here we are....

>lived in PA, tried skiing, lame, and conditions sucked ass
>moved to Idaho, snow is great, and weather does not suck ass, got some friends to go up and we all took a lesson and learned to snowboard at the same time >absolutely loved it and so did one of my friends that went with, been progressing at the same rate as him while picking up similarly skilled friends along the way >been doing it ever since, basically the love of my life in the winter >loving it more and more each season and always finding new ski/snowboard friends to go with

Took my kids sledding and saw folks up close flying down the hill. This little girl 5 or 6, goes zooming by and I thought to myself that looks fun...I should be able to do that. So next time we tried boarding...that was 10 years ago.

Very similar with me. My daughter's class was doing a series of mountain days for Physical Education and they needed volunteer parents to help kick the little fuckers^H^H^H^H^H^H^H dears back into play. I was 'between jobs' so had plenty of time to do so. I'd never seen snowboarding up close, and they did seem to be having a lot of fun. Next time up I rented the gear and I was hooked!

started skiing super young, i must have been 6 or 7. did that regularly until i was 10. my parents bought me a snowboard for my 12th birthday but i never got to use it. in fact, i didnt see the snow again until i was 19 when a friend invited me on a trip with his family. i started skating at a young age too so having that snowboard sitting around unused for years was the ultimate blue ball. my friend and his family were all heavy into winter and riding so it was pretty intimidating at first but that trip definitely boosted my progression and interest in the sport. ive been hooked ever since

I skied back in middle and high school. 20+ years later my kids started going SB'ing and I'm not the kind of dad to sit on the side lines so I joined them. Great family time and I"m having more fun than I ever did skiing.
Don't know if it is the stage of life I'm in, time with my kids, just the thrill or what, but I plan to keep riding

been wakeboarding for years, and last summer made friends with a guy via a wakeboarding forum, he was a snowboarder that bought a boat to learn to wakeboard, but knew nothing about the sport...i showed him the ropes on the water and him, his chick, myself and wife all became great friends...winter came around and they were going snowboarding and invited us along. they had extra of everything including boards, boots, bindings, and outerware...me and the guy, as well as his girl and my wife are similar in size so it was no issue using their gear.
got to the mountain for the first time, and it was so STUPID easy to snowboard, i fell in love right away. it was like wakeboarding, but you didnt have a rope pulling you, you could control your own speed, and you dont have to do a handle pass for a 360 !!! check, check, and check... and although for snow, my location sux, its pretty sweet that theres less than a month between my last wake sesh and my first trip to the mountain...and vice versa boarding season never ends for me now, and i couldnt be happier |
