Default home made Snow Gun???

OK so I know the season is upon most of us. Here in the Mid-West we still don't have snow, but some of the resorts are making and opening soon.

Back to the topic. I have searched this a few times and found a bunch of sites and videos. Has anyone made or used a home made snow gun???

Just thought to tide me/us over to maybe make a little jib park. I have the sprayer & compressor so for probably $25 I could whip one of these up.

yeah i have made snow back home in australia. unfortunately where i live the temperatures don't stay under for very long so snow making sessions are short. when it was cold it worked quite well. i just used a compressor and a really fine jet to get the water really fanned out. but if its colder you can use slightly bigger droplets and make snow quicker.

This looks pretty sick. I have all of the stuff required in the first link except for a pressure washer. Might have to try this sometime throughout the winter. Unfortunately my backyard is basically flat and I don't feel like building a ramp lol

I have a great slope in my backyard, but unfortunately it's directly south facing and unshaded. The sun would nuke anything I would blow pretty quickly. My old house had a shaded north facing backyard that held snow pretty much from early November through late May, but it wasn't steep enough to do much with. I could have a perfect little personal playground if I could combine the best of both.

You're better off just getting a pressure washer that has an adjustable temperature that can get reeeeaaallllyyy hot.

I thought this would be neat to build a snow ramp drop in actually.
The temps here are all over the map yesterday 24* over night low, today 50* and rain
I'm gonna play around with this idea. I'll post some pics and what-not as things progress.

It usually has to be 29 degrees or lower. That is the only shitty part about snow guns.

A overnight temp of 29 or 28 isn't too far out of the reach for most of the country for a least a couple of months. I'm intrigued by this idea. Growing up, I had a few friends in Chicago who had backyards ideal for this. If anyone has any luck with a home made machine I would be very interested to know.

Ya I'm just saying, if it's that cold for long than resorts are probably open. It also uses a lot of water and if the ground isn't frozen it will just melt.

Sorry I didn't come in here to tell you off and discourage you, not matter how much it looks like that, I'm just letting you know before too much money is used. It is definitely possible though.

Thunder, I never took it that way...

Just another topic of discussion. Hell it's Mid Nov and no snow in our forecast. Some of the resorts are trying to make snow but temps have wildly fluctuated.
I just thought this would be fun for the kids in the yard till the real snow hits, nothing more, nothing less. Plus I love to fabricate, I always wanted to be an engineer but life chose a different path for me so I fabricate when/what I can.
Plus another reason to mess with my 60 gallon, twin piston compressor
