It depends on the company and the guy reviewing the case. Generally, damage done doing something like this is difficult to get covered under warranty unless you can convince them that what you were doing is reasonably within the board`s design specifications. A lot of times a company will eat stuff they don`t need to in order to get good PR but you cannot always count on that.

Eh I've seen every company do stupidity replacement at some point. Thank god they're getting stricter about that. People should really read what is and isn't covered under warranty on that little card on the back it might blow their minds.
