Default Snowboarding is ...

What is it to you? I got out this weekend and rode some mediocre conditions with some friends but totally stoked all over again. I can't wait for more, even if we got skunked early season. To me, snowboarding is:

Pow beards

Powerbars and energy shots

Backside airs of anything and everything

Dialing in new tricks

Knuckle cruising

Bruises, painkillers and hot tubs

Getting yelled at by skiiers

Waxing and drinking beers

Deep pow in the trees

Hamburgers and schooners of lager

Sitting by the fireplace dressed sweatpants and sweatshirts

Sore thighs

Happy hour on the way home

Scheming the next trip out of state

waking up at 4:20 with a smile
Get in my wax smelling car, and drive up alone.
My WRX crunching the fresh snow, few others on the road.
First chair, good taste in my mouth on that chair, so quiet all around.
To be finally back on one of my favorite runs, and let it rip, music loud, powder spraying, board carving. jump! Fly on a white carpet...lean back and float silently...
Stop in the trees, more good taste.
More smiling and pow eating. Repeat until legs give up.
Smile and rest ant the end of the a delicious dinner with friends, or drive home alone. Rest. Repeat.

iced out groomers and a hill that is barely a hill

5 minutes waits at the lift for less than a minute of ride time

getting your board scratched by idiots with rental skis

being so excited to ride the night before that you don't sleep at all

waxing 2 times in between trips

at the end of the day, there's still nothing I'd rather do.
If you want to be a chick, a dude, a tent, or a velociraptor be my guest, but if you choose the last one you bet your ass I will have a spaz-12 to your face.

The best thing ever, and the only thing I want to do in the winter.
Oh yeah!? Well, my mom says I'm cool!

Snowboarding is sleeping on the bus and waking up to see the mountains being lit up in all there wintery sexiness as you let out a yawn and swig a bit of ginger ale.

It's ducking out of the wind in the trees to pack the perfect bowl of ganja. Powder, freedom of expression, one with nature and in my case it means meeting new people going up the lifts and blasting the latest cool songs from my mp3. Snowboarding is avoiding eating dinner so you can get a couple more runs in while everyone else is chowing down (gotta love 0 lift lines). Only to discover that the pizza you made the night before have been taken by someone no doubt starving for grubb, along with your ginger ale. Snowboarding is not caring about a starved bus ride on the way home because you had too much fun!
