Could it be could it be!!! Finally some precipitation coming to S. Lake Tahoe? On my way up friday afternoon. Figured they would be buried my now. For weeks I've been watching and NOTHING. But it finally looks like they may get snow Saturday and Sunday (70% chance). Granted I'm in Arizona so I'm probably hearing this second hand. Anyone up or near that area? Are they talking snow or am I just hearing wishful thinking from source?

Nothing really worth while for a couple weeks possibly. The storm track is changing, so it will be closer to tahoe, but this current one is just a little too far north, tahoe will get drips and drabs for a little while.
But if you are in Arizona, why have you been waiting for Tahoe to get snow when they're obviously one of the most worst off in north america? There are tons of places getting buried right now, that are honestly, better. |

http://http://www.weather.com/weathe.../USCA0551:1:US WETTER AND COOLER PATTERN RETURNING TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA THIS WEEK... AFTER A PROLONGED DRY PERIOD TO BEGIN THE RAINY SEASON... WE ARE NOW EXPERIENCING A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER PATTERN THAT WOULD GIVE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA BENEFICIAL RAIN AND SNOW MID TO LATE THIS WEEK. A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DROPPING INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND BRUSHING BY THE NORTH IS BRINGING TEMPERATURES BACK DOWN TO NEAR OR BELOW NORMAL TODAY AND MONDAY AND GUSTY SOUTHERLY WINDS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THIS SYSTEM WILL ALSO BRING A CHANCE OF LIGHT PRECIPITATION OVER THE MOUNTAINS TONIGHT. COLD AIR BEHIND THIS SYSTEM ALONG WITH CLEARING SKIES WILL BRING A CHILLY NIGHT MONDAY NIGHT WITH TEMPERATURES DROPPING INTO THE MID 20S IN THE CENTRAL VALLEY AND DELTA AND INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS IN HIGH MOUNTAIN VALLEYS SUCH AS BURNEY... QUINCY... AND CHESTER. A MORE SUBSTANTIAL PATTERN CHANGE IS DEVELOPING WEDNESDAY INTO THE WEEKEND BRING WETTER WEATHER. THE JET STREAM IS NOW AIMED TO BRING SYSTEMS INTO INTERIOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ALONG WITH A MOISTURE PLUME FOR MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW ALONG WITH PERIODS OF GUSTY WINDS AND COOLER TEMPERATURES WEDNESDAY INTO THE WEEKEND. ALTHOUGH THE DETAILS ARE STILL SOMEWHAT UNCERTAIN AND TIMING MAY CHANGE A LITTLE. Last edited by RichnNorcal; 01-15-2012 at 08:56 PM. |

There is a cabin that we stay at every year for 4 days with our kids. It's not really a ski trip sorta speak it's more like a old fashioned small town Xmas vacation without the Xmas. It has been a 5 year tradition. My wife and I like skiing and just figured if when we go to Tahoe it snows then its a bonus. We would book a trip to northern Arizona but to be honest there have been years where February rolls around and there is still no snow. At least in Tahoe there is a nice cabin to stay at and usually by January there is plenty of snow. So we are hoping for snow, but I will be most likely at harveys casino watching my patriots play on Sunday.

Yeah, like I said, nothing worth while for a couple of weeks. Tahoe is getting snow, just not as much was Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. The storms will really start to dip down and hit the sierras really well in a couple weeks.
