Default Help out Sarah Burke's Family

The call has gone out to the tribe. Evidently the medical bills are crushing. I hope there was some sort of coverage, but being that she was from Canada, it was probably minimal. This girl was a Trail blazer, Icon, Legend of her sport. Scrap together $5, $10, $20, whatever and help them out. It all helps.

Unofficial Networks has the info on how to help.

Not to sound like a dick, how legit is this? Did the family release any kind of statement concerning this? I ask as there was a small family here in BC that died in a car accident and some dude made a fraudulent donation website to help the mother, and got a few thousands at the expense of the mourning family..What a Douchebag.

Posted by Kristi Lensiken, Unofficial Networks, and on her Facebook page? If it's not legit, it's one hell of a scam.

I thought the only thing you have to pay for in Canada is the $50 for the ambulance...

She was injured, treated, and died in Utah. Decidedly not Canada.

Any amount helps. They are trying to raise $550k. Looks like donations are getting ready to top $200k, so your donation absolutely helps.

I'd tell the hospital to eat their bill.

Not commenting on the merits of the donations at all, but

I'm wondering if the family signed something to guarantee the bills. If not, it would just go uncollected. It would be collected against her estate if anything. I represent small business, not big businesses and would tell them to pound sand.

$550k is a hell of a lot to pay for, and is always vastly inflated (In some Personal Injury cases I've seen bills in the hundreds of thousands settle for 30% of the total bill).

EDIT: OK I read some of the links, it appears its for her husband, which makes sense. the H MIGHT be on the hook for this stuff. Sad stuff.
