Skiier Hostility, Snow Patrol Does The Right Thing
So this weekend, I was at my home MT, Mountain Creek in NJ. Conditions were fine, considering the weather, but around midday, the conditions became very slushy and the runs were starting to get a bit crowded. I figured I would go to the bunny hill and work on my toe side, as Im still not 100 percent comfortable on toeside turns.
Line to chairlift was pretty long, but they have a singles line (boarding by myself). So I get paired on a quad chairlift with (IN ORDER) |Woman|Man|9yearold| Me
Before going up to the chair, I asked the lift op if I can not go with them, but he made me. So I asked the guy if he could sit next to me, as Im not 100 comfortable sitting next to the 9 year old..as in the event I wipe out, I dont hurt her. He said she will be fine....
So he talks to me the entire way up and i asked him if I can go ahead of them that way I dont interfere with them, as Im going hard right. He insists everything will be fine and goes the same time I do.. Well with the conditions of the chairlift runoff, I tried to go hard right while skating and caught an edge and wiped out at the end of the run. And HERE SHE COMES... and barrles right into me. The father comes running up to me and starts yelling at me. After explaining to him that I caught an edge due to the slush, he pushes me over and says "You did exactly what I knew you asshole snowboarders do.... Yadda My Daughter...Ect."
So Lift Op comes RUNNING Over and seperates us, as I was fired up and ready to kill this guy. Snow Patrol comes over after 3 minutes and after a quick conversation, the snow patroller goes right over and cut the guys ticket for putting his hands on me.... Snow patrol asked if I was ok, and I was fine, i was just worried about his daughter.
I dont know if he was just being overprotective, or if was just another skiier that just hates snowboarders...
Whats your take guys? Sorry no video of the confrontation.
