Indoor summer riding?

Has anyone tried setting up a small indoor summer run? This winter has been so crappy, I haven't got my fix, and I'm contemplating renting a small warehouse or something and setting up a short run with 1 or 2 features to play with this summer. I've heard the air conditioning would be too expensive though. Anyone had any experience with this? Or am I way out in dreamland?

If you get a warehouse with high enough ceilings who needs an air conditioner? kids skate outside in 90+ degree heat all summer long...

You're not in dreamland, somebody did that just recently about an hour from my house. I have not checked it out since it was still under construction, though.

nothing like that where I live in July/August. Or even April.

And zamboni always sounds like a great idea until you realize that none of your friends has either a truck, or a hill in his/her backyard

Misfit labs looks sweet!
How 'bout a quick poll: How many out there would use a place like Misfit labs off season (summer for riding, winter for skating)if there was one nearby?

I would definitely try it and see if I liked it, here in Ontario our off season is way too long. I strap into my board and hop around or get on the trampoline a bunch of times before the snow comes back, something like this would definitely be worth trying. But how successful would it actually be? You'd likely only get the hardcore riders showing up.

The Misfit Lab actually has a skate park AND a snow park. I am not sure how they are doing business-wise, it is always tough to start a new business but hopefully things can pick up when the weather warms a little bit. They just opened in mid-December IMO they needed to time it better because right now they are competing with the ski areas for business, and even as shitty as our winter has been, I can't justify going there as long as there is snow on the hills.

Seems like a great idea and something I would definitely try out if it was within an hour or so of my location. It'd be a tough sell to some people, but if you have the capital and resources to get it done, maybe you got the next big thing.

it's a synthetic material called "powderpak". it is more like indoor/outdoor carpet than it is like snow but basically I think it is a synthetic, plasticky Berber. It works well enough as long as you keep it lubed up. If you can throw some real snow on it, it's lightning fast.
