I am leaving for Japan next week and I would like to bring my new snowboard with me. I see I lot of bags that are padded but is that enough for the rough handling by the airlines? Should I look for hard shells?
Please provide any suggestion about what is best to make sure the board arrives in one piece. Thanks |

I usually put all my outerwear around the boards as an extra layer of protection. Baggage handlers do not give a fuck, my bag came out with the handle half torn off when I landed in tokyo.
In saying that snowboards are very strong and I doubt you could hurt it too badly if its in a proper padded bag. PS get a bag with wheels. |

Yeah you'll be fine with just a padded one. Mine went from Australia to Canada and back again and it was fine. Wrap your jacket and pants around the tips of the board if you really want to.
And definitely try and find a bag with wheels if you can, makes everything so much easier! |
