Okay I just wanted to create a thread on crazy, weird, random things that have happened to you guys on the slopes. I'll start, so a couple weeks ago I was up at Snow Summit going up the express lift just checking my phone or whatever. All of a sudden we look down and their is a beginner board screaming down the hill. It was probably going around 20-30 mph. We see it barely avoid all of these people and we were just shocked. We kept looking for who's it was and finally about half way up the mountain we see this lady just walking around looking for the board. It was just bizarre that people like that are let into the resort. What's your story?

I seen that last year at Abasin, just missed a little girl on skis and rammed into some trees, that shit is scary.

I once rode up a chair lift with two dudes making out, it was pretty awkward, I just sipped my hot damn while in total shock that this was actually going on.
I mean, I'm a pretty progressive person... but keep it at home boys!

Riding wise, I had a to ruin my run to tell a family of 5 (2 boarders and 3 skiers) to find another place to stand around (Was at the bottom of a 30footer) Two members of the group proceeded to throw expletive remarks at me as they rode off...

I don't know if it's shenanigans or not...but a few years ago me and some friends were sessioning this little kicker under a lift at a small resort. A few of us were sitting under the lift and this douche with ski blades knocked his kiddie skis together sending snow falling all over us. No big deal really, but my buddy just said "could you please not do that?". Next thing we know, kiddie ski douche comes flying down the hill, stops, and starts talking shit like he wants to fight...frozen snot on his face, spitting and screaming at us...my buddy bowed up to him and he took off...we were all just looking at each other like "WTF was that?"

I could write a whole book on this topic. Last week alone 2 different douche bags wanting to fight after being called out for doing asshole things in the lift line, both of which backed down to me.

All of these are pretty great so far. On another lift for 3 people, on that trip we had this stereotypical skiers who thinks she's the mountain police(Don't have anything against skiers, but it is something I have noticed). So a couple kids are getting on the ski lift and the group breaks up and one of the riders was by himself so she starts yelling at them and the employees to fill the lift and she was making a fool of herself. She started harassing the kids and just looked like . Everyone just ignored the crazy hag.

Two things stick out, one in particular.

The first and more minor of the two was a gaper who lost his board on the slope at Loveland, it took off down the slope and ended up stopping dead center in the pond, literally on thin ice (this was probably mid-November at the latest). This dumbass proceeds to start across the ice after it when the whole chair lift exploded with people screaming at him not to do it. I simply sat there quietly willing to let natural selection run it's course. The gaper eventually backed off and went to get patrol.

The 2cd was also at Loveland. I was riding Lift 6 and a couple of kids, I'm guessing 14-15ish were throwing snowballs at a couple of their buddies and accidentally hit a guy on the chair behind their buddies. Dude goes ape shit, cussing, raising hell, threatening to beat their ass, etc. Wow. I mean, yeah, the kids were being dumb and hit you with a snowball, but really, all that? Anyway, I get to the top and unload and this dude is just fuming, raging fucking mad. Irrationally mad. He was about 40, overweight, and probably hated his life and was bound and determined to take all that frustration out on these couple of kids. I decide I better follow along. He gets down to where the kids were waiting on their buddies, rips his board off and he's ready to fight. For real. Wow. I arrive on the scene just as he's pushing one of the kids over while both kids were still strapped in, not realizing that they need to be ready to physically defend themselves against someone who is quite possibly a fucking psycho. I slide in, rip my board off and pretty much tell the guy I'm gonna beat the fuck out of him if he touches these kids. Having another adult on the scene, he immediately starts pleading his case and I simply tell him that I saw everything that happened. Yeah, they accidentally hit you with a snowball, you cussed them out, they apologized while you were still on the lift and that should've been the end of it. No way am I letting you physically beat the shit out of a couple of kids. He starts to simmer down and I tell him to ride on. I tell the kids that I realize they were just playing around, but they gotta be more careful because there's some crazy fuckers out there and they just encountered one. I rode to the bottom to back them up as they told patrol what happened and patrol pretty much told them the same thing I did. I never saw crazy fucker again and I don't know if patrol caught up with him or not.

We had this when I was 16 and lived in NY except dude didn't do so well. I'm bombing down the main run at Holiday Valley and I see this pink streak go past me on skis and I'm like WTF was that, it was nude skier dude drunk off his ass. He proceeds to hit a patch of slush then sheet ice and double ejects and slams, slides, and flips down the slope coming to a rest face down ass up complete ice rash. They had to take him off the hill in the shame train he got charged with public indecency and drunkeness it was hilarious.

Couple weeks ago, guessing it was pres day or some shit, dad and 4 year old are cruising through i-70, just cruising beside features which are, as features tend, BEING RIDDEN.

Suddenly dad swerves without checking his six and hits a box, so naturally son does the same. Snowplow turn, snowplow box technique, kid goes down, suddenly a teenager with basic abilities is trying to also stop/steer on the box, now 4 year old becomes part of the features and gets jibbed.

It occurs to me to yell at dad, but I just shake my head, grin, and enjoy the tunes, my usual medicine, and the outdoors.
