Default OMG!! I get to demo a Cobra on Friday!

Sorry I had to share my excitement with some one and my wife just doesn't care. I just stopped in at my local board shop and started chatting with one of the guys their about next years stuff. He asked what boards I was looking at and I said the Raptor and Cobra. So he was like you know we have a few Cobra's for demo right now...... then I teared up a little. So this friday I am skipping work and hitting up the hill. Its going to be a huge change for me as this is my first season ever and I have been riding a 159 Capita Spacemaster the whole time. I think the Raptor could be a good fit for me as I have already developed a taste for the powder and I primarily just ride in the trees trying to find awesome lines. Plus its still snowing up here like crazy in south eastern BC! 41cm in the past 24hrs at my local hill!!! Anyways I am stoked and I just wanted to share. Thanks for reading.

Is your local hill Fernie? If so I hate you... lol Have fun demo'ing, just do yourself a favour and ride your own board for the first few runs. Each days snow will feel vastly different than the last, and you want to be sure you're actually feeling a change in the board instead of a change in conditions.

Best thing to do is find a "favorite run" that you're comfortable on but near your top end of comfort, blast a few laps on your board to feel it out, then switch and run the same line down the same run.

Have fun!

Oh I've heard whitewater is another fun one. My Aunt lives in Kelowna so one of these days I'll have to check some of those mountains out. Furthest we've gone is Kimberley and it was fun. Favorite so far has to be Fernie though. For variety of terrain I haven't found anything better (but I haven't been to KH or Revelstoke yet).

Thanks about the vids!

Yeah my brother and dad both live in Kimberly so that will be easy to get to for next season for sure. I also have an aunt and uncle in Revy! Its nice to have free lodging to go exploring at new hills. Glad to hear Fernie was good I am really looking forward to it next season.

Yeah next year my season pass will cover Fernie, Kimberley, Kicking Horse, Naksika, and Lake Louise and I'll have free lodging at none of them! Gotta start making some friends in those areas that want free lodging in Calgary during stampede week...

So I got to spend the afternoon on this board today and all I can say is WOW! First off I am just saying that I am not writing a review as my skill and knowledge is not suitable to advise people. Your just going to get my thoughts. It was a huge change from my current board (Capita Spacemaster). The first thing I noticed just when picking it up is how light it was. Like freaky light almost, which was fine by me. Second thing was the sensation of spinning like a top when I didn't have my back foot strapped in......lol I adjusted to this by the end of the day though. I found it much easier to link turns in steep chopped up powder than my other board. The board wants to haul ass too, more ass then I was ok with sometimes. I also found that the board inspired more confidence in me than I had the skill to back it up with, thus me eating shit once or twice. I think the best moment on the board was when I went to this easily accessible bowl just out of bounds and was able to shred the powder without issue. On my old board I would just bury my nose and east shit. I was able to do it so well I did the run like 5 times in a row...lol. The owner of the shop left his bindings on so I got to try out the Flux DMCC's, their All Mountain Destroyer. They are ridiculously light I must say and felt like a dream compare to my old Ride SPI's. I will say, at least in my opeion, they are ugly as hell.

A few pictures.
On the chair.
The bowl I spoke of.
Some, Day I will be there!

Sounds sick! And lucky bastard, my mountain closed 2 weeks ago, but it has been 70 degrees and slush since the beginning of February T_T Mother Nature owes us one next season.

Yeah it was pretty cool, very nice board. Dropped it off today though so I was sad to see her go. Upside is I get to demo a Raptor this up coming Saturday! Going to be nice to compare them and see which I prefer.
