i managed to get a dr apointment at lunch today since it's down the street from my office. Mostly cos I am gonna see my family on friday before leaving for mammoth and I don't want to catch crap from my mom.

Hey Kiddo,.. Gonna have to second this!!! "Jammed" doesn't usually bring out the psychedelic colors!! I was a Medic in the service & saw a lot of strains & sprains. Some,.. really gnarly!! I'm not saying a severe sprain can't present like that, but That degree of bruising & discoloration usually indicates a break!!! I know it's a complete drag, but definitely don't put off the appointment to the doc!! OK?

Keep us posted on the results? (...hope I'm wrong!!!)

bad news: teeny tiny fracture on my pikie finger.

good news: skier was a doctor. Er i meant my doc was a skier. He asked me how I did it and when I said snowboarding his response was "where were you that has snow??!

he taped me up and is sending me to an orthopedist to get a cast tomorrow morning and cleared me to ride this weekend!

It honestly didn't turn crazy colors until 2 days after the fact so that is kinda why i waited. i didn't think it was that bad.

I seem to have a higher then normal tolerance for pain i guess considering i busted it in the morning and kept riding all day. after a few drinks of course

Sorry to hear that! I was really hoping I was wrong! But, I'm glad to hear you're cleared for riding!! Gotta say I LOVE the "Doc's" reaction!! (...The truth is, I would trade places with you in a second if it meant I could be somewhere where I could still be riding!!! Here I'm living Smack Dabb in the middle of the "Snow Belt" and our seasons been done almost 3 months!!!! 85 degrees today!! {...worse, I lived in CA. for almost 20 years & didn't snowboard!!!})

I like my MTB & Kayak, but they don't even come CLOSE to how much I love my snowboard!!!!! I'm thinking of a transfer back to CA. though first chance I get!!! HAVE FUN NEXT WEEKEND!!!!!! (...jealous!!)

yeah, I would have gone this weekend either way. The doc sent me off to xray saying he think I broke it. I was like 'OMG I can still ride this weekend right? I can't miss closing weekend" That's when he said
"Yeah, I think you're gonna need a cast...." he didn't trust me to not hurt myself worse with just a splint He was awesome.


oh i live where it's hot too. Mountains in my backyard but I m too far south for much snow, I got quite a drive to mammoth. Im just lucky to be there more then Im home.

I dated a guy long distance in seattle for a over year. A year that had record breeaking snowfall and I didn't ride back then


oh yeah love your sig. I'm gonna be 36 a lot sooner then I'd like to admit but I still act like Im 12.

Yeah,.. I get that!! Last 2 days of my vacation this past Feb., I rode So much ea. day during the whole week, that something in my lower back got strained & walking, sleeping, sitting etc. hurt like hell! Didn't stop me from getting up 'n' out for first chair those last two days tho! (I did quit earlier than I wanted that last day! I had a long drive home, my thighs were "Fried", the back was screamin', and I figured riding while half my focus was on trying to ignore the pain,.. was a SURE way to get seriously hurt! )


LOL,.. 36? Still quite the youngster!!! I Keep waiting for the day I'll wake up & "Feel" like an adult, but if it hasn't happened over the last 51 years, I guess it just Ain't gonna!!!

(...to prove the point, I plan on taking a stab at Wake Boarding this summer!! Something tells me falling on water is gonna hurt more than on the snow!!! )

Winter is back in mammoth, at least for 2 days. The top has been closed all day, but its been snowing up there since midday yesterday. High in the 20s and windy. Highlight of the day was seeing Jeremy Jones on the shuttle bus
