All great tips so far.
We would be staying together when we ride, especially in a resort of this nature. That includes riding marked trails at all times. The leg training is good to know. We are all in good shape, I go to the gym and have a physical job. Kids are in sports. We did notice leg fatigue when we went to one of our larger hills, so this is in the back of my mind a little, but not much you can do to avoid it. Lots of liquids, protein and stretching before/after. Four day pass sounds that after four days riding this type of hill we wouldn't need much more. The buy on get on free is a good plan though for an extra day or two. Seeing if we do go want to maximize our time on the hill as I don't know when this opportunity would be available again. This guy does have this forever so I might get another shot at it if I can't make it work this year.

I was so pissed off by the leg thing that I started training for next season as soon as I got back from vacation. For a couple of months now, I've been doing a routine in the gym that involves some treadmill work, stretching routine like I used to do in martial arts, balance board work, and weight training for legs. In particular with the leg training, I do very slow reps (10-15 seconds per rep) which emulates the workout you get on a snowboard, standing in a bent-knee position for long periods. Produces some great thigh burn!

It would probably be a great idea to take a rest day after the 2nd day out, because your legs will become jello haha. As for the trip cost...never went on a trip like that so i'm no help there. I suppose lots of cheap food to keep costs down. Riding at the resort, also a good idea to stick with your boys so they don't get lost or start getting ballsy and get into stuff over their heads. If you have ridden in the mid west at temps around zero you will be fine for anything. Unless it is really cold you will probably be taking layers off you will get so warm. I almost always ride in just an under shirt, a t shirt and my jacket.
Good luck with it, hope it works out and we will be awaiting follow up news. |

I have 5 kids a wife and an ex-wife so I consider myself an expert at being a cheap fucker, dont want to bust your bubble on the 4-packs lift tickets but you have to be at the resort in person to get them at copper and winter park unless you have got them before then you can renew online. I do hear that you will be able to get copper 4-packs at any christy sports after labor day but that still wont help you.
If you want to do a colorado trip on the cheap skip the condo for $500 and do the super8 in georgetown or the snowshoe in frisco, you can get rooms for around $70 with a microwave and fridge. they are not what I would call great accomadations but its a guy trip so what the hell. Loveland will have 4-packs on sale in september that you can buy online, last year I think they were $119. Board a couple of days there and a few more at the other mountains that are all about 30 minutes away from each other.

Jeez man, don't come all the way to CO and then be so damn scared you refuse to venture off of clearly marked trials
