Hi all,
This Christmas time, I'll have an 11-day vacation and I want to make it a snowboarding trip. I know, wish it could be in Feb instead for better snow. But, work doesn't allow for that. So, I've been to Whistler/Blackcomb, Aspen/Snowmass, and SLC area (PCMR, Powder Mtn, Brighton, Snowbird, Solitude) and of course, loved all of them! I used to ride freestyle but getting older and broke my ribs last season so will just enjoy cruising down the slopes now . Where would you recommend I should go this time?? Ideas please! Thanks a lot. Doug

Yeah, Wolf Creek got good servings of powder last year when most others were dry!I think I should save Europe for when or if I ever get a longer vacation.

Ok....
Tyrol Basin Family Ski and Snowboard Area ![]() ![]() It will be epic! Trip reports! Ok ok...how about Steamboat? Jackson Hole? Durango? Not major nightlife destinations but you can find some vittles. No where near Summit County unless you like Disneyland during the summer.

Almost went to Banff this past March, but chose Whistler for my first Canada trip. Banff's very tempting!

Crested Butte is amazing and probably my most favorite ski area in Colorado. It is also rockier than fuck. Arapahoe Basin is a distant second in that regard. December is an awfully early time of year to be gambling on Crested Butte. Great town, great mountain though.
Best conditions are probably going to be Wolf Creek and I am getting a gut feeling California may pour it on early this year. Seems like Cali is due for a good early season. Though often it comes in mid November last until mid December when it does. |
