Hey everyone!

I have some questions for a project about snowboarding and social media. You guys are my target audience so I'm glad I found you all in one place!

It's only 8 questions, mostly yes or no. So it shouldn't take long at all. I hope you guys don't mind!

1. Do you have a favorite snowboarder?

2. Do you have a favorite snowboard brand?

3. What social media do you use?

4. Have you ever done a social media contest?

5. Why have you or haven't you?

6. If it was easy, would you? (As in one of those where you just like their page and you have the chance to win)

7. If it required more creative effort, would you? (As in posting a picture or something for the chance to win)

8. If you got something directly related to the snowboarder, as in an autograph, would you?

If your project was on how to effectively use social media to help with marketing a snowboard brand, then you just failed horribly.

Trying to get people to take a survey before even making a few posts and contributing to the community is like being a 16 yr old high school kid trying to get laid on the first date.

You need to post a video introduction before you have a snowballs chance of getting a positive response from anyone here.

Clare, I'm somewhat in agreement with the two posts above and would say that yes, contributing to the community is important before asking everyone to take a survey for you.

What/who is the survey for? Will we be able to see an end result? A bit of explanation and an introduction from yourself will most likely get you what you want.

Methinks the pricklyness you will be/have been receiving from this community is a result of the commercialization of the industry (which is fine but...). Everyone here loves to snowboard. Period.

Your survey, while simple, may look like a "Oh hey, all these people on snoboardingforum.com are snowboarders, I'll use them as a target audience for my brand/project/whatever." Bottom line, we feel a little used.

I'm by no means a veteran member of the community but I'd say introduce yourself, talk to some people, start discussions. There's a bunch of folks on here who know the industry inside and out who would be useful but no one knows who you are or your end-goals. Do you even snowboard?

Don't mean to sound ornery, just trying to help you out a bit...

Sorry guys! I didn't even realize, since it was just a few questions I didn't think it would be a big deal.
This is just for one of my classes. It's not really for a real contest or anything. We had to find a topic that connects with social media and since snowboarding is huge here I thought it would be the perfect topic. Does this help a little?
