I think the OP is sadly mistaken if he thinks that in 100 years cities will "take over"... Remember we are humans and we have to do a little thing called EAT every once in a while! Where does that food come from? The grocery store? Oh yeah! I'd say Calgary is great, closest mountain is 1:00 hour away, season is from Nov to May, and it's a big city with big city amenities. But I don't want somebody living here who doesn't like the outdoors and farm land.

i live in boston, whatever you do dont move here. look out west. I've been to Salt Lake City a couple times and its a city(obviously) and its very close to some great mountains like Snowbird, Park City, Brighton, Canyons, and others
