Depends on where you live. If you catch someone in your garage or house around here stealing your stuff. Riddling them with bullets will get you a hand shake and have a nice day.

That depends on the state that you live in to if you will even get in trouble or not. Just remember to shoot to kill and not to wound. Damn civil suits will kill you. That is of course if you want to take it that far. To make it worse the culprits probably live within a mile of your house.

Good news. The cops called today. They did a sting and recovered my snowboards. They think they have my skateboards as well. I hope to get all my stuff back before the season begins. I am going to get my wife a 9 mil though. Just in case someone tries to come in the house. Thanks everyone for the hospitality. You guys really made me feel better about the situation.

Glad your getting your gear back.
My first line of defense

Next a nice sg228 and 3 black belts to round out the home line of defense.

Thats great news. My board was stolen from my roof-rack one year, worst feeling ever.

Gun? Won't help if you aren't home.

Mean ass dog or home security and locks that work? Much more effective deterrent

Read on another forum: "If someone held a gun to my head and said, "You have to move to Salida tomorrow", I'd probably do it. If they told me I had to go to Breckenridge instead, I think I'd just let them pull the trigger."

FORTUNATE! Did you have the serial numbers on hand when you reported it? I keep a record of serial numbers, especially firearms, if anything were to happen to them. It is a good practice to keep if anything just happens to go missing. If anything is found by the police having given the serial numbers to them usually helps you get your gear, or whatever it was, back more quickly.

Make sure you use holopoints for home defense. Sure, they are more expensive, but they are more likely to not carry through the intended target and through to a distant target. Plus, you get more stopping power into the target, especially if you are planning on a 9mm. Practice with ball ammunition.

even better is an AR-15 in 5.56/.223 except then you WANT to use ball ammo... rifle rounds quickly break up and tumble when they hit stuff, like dudes or drywall...

The dog doesn't have to be mean although it helps is they thief is persistent. The dog just needs to look the part. I have a Siberian husky and he is the biggest sissy of a dog ever but he's big and people are scared of him. All he wants is some loving and when people walk by my fence and he's out they walk down the far side of the ally. An intimidating looking dog will startle and deter a lot of potential thieves.

Great to hear your getting your stuff back!
