Waxing board
 

Hello,

Just wanted to ask you pros since I'm new to owning my own equipment. Last year i purchased a board and only rode it 4 full days. Should I have it waxed or should the factory job still be fine? Look forward to your replies! Thanks!:cool:

My opinion is you should wax. First of all, a factory wax that your board came with is really not very good. I always wax new boards to get a better wax job than the factory. Even if I didn't, I'd want to re-wax within 4 days riding on the factory wax as I imagine it was pretty well degraded by that 4th day. Secondly, wax does not hold up over time - like the amount of time it has sat since last winter.

Those that believe in waxing will tell you to do it and others will tell you you're fine.

I would wax it. In fact, I rarely ride more than that without waxing. But then again, I ride mostly man-made crap.

Looks like a NS in your avatar. While their boards are great, the factory wax is not so.

Since you're in orlando I'd skip the wax and get put the $10 towards a kiteboard.

That said you should wax it, it takes 20 mins if you do it yourself, and if you get it done it's not that expensive.

I rode my board most of last season with just the factory wax but then I thought I'd try waxing it myself. There is definitely a noticeable difference, I don't think I'll ever go more than 5 days without waxing again.

Say your girlfriend got a brazillian last year, and you only rode her four times and then put her away until this season. Would you want her waxed again this season? :dunno:

I would wax it once just to start the season of fresh. Depending on what type of base your board has and the conditions you ride you could probably get away without waxing again for a while.
