Snowshoe WV Early Season.
Hey guy. I'm thinking of heading up to snowshoe for a couple of days after thanksgiving. My question is, is it worth the trip? I know they will have limited terrain but how limited? Any help will be appreciated. Paying 225 for 2.5 days of snowboarding and lodging plus food cost so its not to much just wondering how much will be open.

I go there every year, but I usually go just after Christmas. They got hit really good from hurricane sandy. On their video part of their site, they have a video of them grooming and at the end it lists the runs that will be open starting tomorrow. It looks like about 8 runs.

I would be surprised if it was even open. Early season this year for the south East is looking like late Dec.

It opens tomorrow.

Thanks for the replays guys. I know for sure it opening but didn't know how much is open. 8 runs is plenty for me. I just want to try out my new board lol. Hopefully they will have a park as well.

I visited there last year and am traveling there the 29th of December.
They probably will not have any park open. Last year was a little warmer and dry and they only had one park open until Mid January. I recently spoke with someone there during Sandy and she said that that snow would not stick but they would try to use it as a base anyway. I would think it will be a little icy right now. |
That video and the fact that on Sat the temps are supposed to dip into the low 20's (snowmaking temps) has me thinking about making that 5hr drive for Sunday .... Hmmmmm

I looked at what is opening and compared it to the trail map. Its basically 1 top to bottom run. Im 6.5 hours away so it's not worth it to me.
