:yahoo: (Alternate title) "That Board will Ride You - Re-visited!"

Remember now, I'm a NooB & don't really know shit, so this isn't going to be a typical "Core" rider's review of this board! It's just my first impressions on only the second board I've ever owned & ridden! (..I don't count the 1st two outings on rentals!)

Here is an excerpt from a thank you e-mail I sent to Wiredsport this morning;

I wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know I received the X-mas Stoker board. I wanted to be sure to thank you again for this terrific gift!
I was a little bummed because I was going to be out of town for a 4 day snowboard trip up north here in MI, when it was scheduled to arrive and I would have to wait to try it out!
I returned home Sunday night and Yesterday, I outfitted it with the spare Cartel's I had & took it out to the local!!

WOW!!!!! What a SWEET, FUN, PLAYFUL little board that Garage rocker is!!!!!!! :D I can't help but use more of my signature, goofy, (…creepy for a guy my age??) ;-) juvenile smilies to describe riding it!!!
:yahoo: :yahoo: :D

I am S-o-o-o glad I spent my first season learning how to become fairly confidant & "beginner proficient" riding on such an advanced board like my Arbor Roundhouse, because those skills I learned translated in your board being such a pleasure to ride!!!!

My first run down, I slashed to a halt at the lift line & was grinning ear to ear!!!! :D It's so light I barely feel it on my feet, it spins, it presses & butters, it carves, (…semi soft groomers anyway!) It Nollies & Ollie's with ease,.. (…no "Air" yet.) and after struggling to learn how to ride switch on my set back directional twin ride? I look like an absolute pro getting switch on this board!!!! ;-) :D

Thank you!!!! I really have fallen in love with snowboarding since my first lesson and even tho I understood why many of you hardcore guy's would want a quiver of boards for various types & styles of riding,.. If it hadn't been for winning this board, I probably would have been satisfied to put off, for several more seasons anyway, purchasing another board for myself to try and experience what it's possible to accomplish with different rides!!!!!

Thank You again,.. It's a Super fun board to ride, and the "Flat Rocker" profile of this board is a perfect fit for me & my NooB riding progression right now!!!
Wiredsport ROCKS!!!!
[...end of message]

I had a BLAST last night on that board!!!!!! I think I'm gonna try and get out there again today! I took both boards & checked my Arbor first to give the Rome a whirl!! after an hour or two, I had to go get the Arbor & ride it just to remind myself not to b too cocky!!! :D But you know,.. I honestly believe that playing on that Rome board, will help improve my riding the Arbor as well!!!

Some of the buttering tricks I was trying were much harder for me to pull off on the longer, stiffer, cambered Arbor, but after an hour or two of trying to get them dialed on the Garage Rocker, I honestly think they felt "easier" back on the Arbor afterwards!!! (...not easy, just felt like I had a better Idea of proper form & technique without so much muscling it!!!)

I will post better pic's of the set up when I have them, but for now, here's the deck against the snow!! (Hell, I even love the color!!!)

Oh yes, This board has an Extruded base rather than sintered. Anything "special" or in particular I need to know to keep the base maintained? Diff. kind of wax or anything like that? Thanks for reading!!!

I thought the stokers were for you to give someone who didn't have a board?
:dunno:

Glad you love it :yahoo:
:storm:
Had to go back & look @ the original Stoker post for this particular board giveaway, but you're right! It did say it was intended to "get someone New into the Sport!"! (...I was aware that the previous giveaway was looking for a "Sob Story" winner!)

...although I noticed more than a few post's besides mine, claiming to want the board for themselves,.. In an effort to stave off the :storm: you seem to feel is coming to me,.. ;)

...At the moment, I literally know Nobody who ski's, or snowboards! No one in my family has any desire to even give it a try! (...they all think I'm insane!!) I have no kids, my niece & nephew live out of state & don't "Do" cold!

I do have one buddy from work I kayak with occasionally who expressed a little interest last year when I told him how much fun it was! I have already told him that whenever he's ready to give it a go, I have a brand new board he can ride! He hasn't responded with any sort of interest or readiness to go out! If he were to go & fall for the sport like I did, I am perfectly willing to offer to give him the board, if for no other reason than so I can get a regular riding buddy. (...He's married with two young girls, so I don't hold his reluctance or exuses for not going against him!)

Until such time as I even have any kind of potential candidate for this board,... (...hopefully some cute young thing I can be the "Mature, Athletic, Teacher type" or who has "Daddy Issues,..")

You Can Betcher Ass, I'm gonna enjoy the HELL out of riding it myself!!! :D :yahoo:

LOL, I love the enthusiasm you have in all your posts throughout this forum!

Sort of like a motivational speaker for a riders. :)
Not sure if this comment was meant for Me or Wiredsport?

If referring to WS,.. Yeah, seems they sure do a LOT for supporting this forum! I was pretty surprised when I saw them giving away boards 'n' stuff, but I was shocked as hell (...happily so!) to actually win one!!

If you were talking about my post's? Thanks!! I appreciate the sentiment!! I really do feel like a little kid @ X-Mas when it comes to snowboarding!! Been a long time since I had something to do that was s-o-o-o much plain ol' FUN!!

...Hopefully I'll finally get some time to ride out my first day of the season next week.
 ^^^ ...as for this, DUDE!!! I was pulling my hair out back in Oct. waiting to get on the snow!! Don't know how you managed waiting till Jan!!! :D You need to get out there!! :D

Extruded bases are awesome as long as they are kept well waxed. Very durable, still very fast, incredibly easy to repair.

Chomps, your posts here stoke me. 4 AM, and your heart is beating to get those first turns. That is what riding is all about.
