vehicle prep

Some things I fix that are wrecked from freezing temps.
-- Coolant -30f, you can get test strips from parts store
-- carry extra wipers and non freezing washer fluid
-- dont set the ebrake the shoes and cables will freeze
-- always check your other fluids as well
I get alot of vehicles towed or limped in from freezing damage.
feel free to add more.
Happy New Year!!

The typical (and not so typical):

- weak battery/alternator
- not checking tire pressure when the air temp has dropped 30 degrees C since you last filled them
- not using the proper oil weight for the conditions... Many cars suggest 5W-30 in the winter if they use 10W-30 in the summer. Check owners manual
- not using the proper grade of gasoline... If a vehicle requires 91+ octane, some people get away with running 89 in the summer. In the winter when the air is more dense, you could get pre-ignition or detonation and start doing damage...

- snow tires and chains.
- blanket
- small shovel
- candle and waterproof matches

When travelling to and from the mountains, anything and everything can and do es happen. Take the time to prep your car as well as you prep your board, boots and bindings. Travel safe everyone.

A good tow strap, wiper fluid, oil, and antifreeze. The wiper idea is key as well because I've seen numerous wipers come detached from vehicles in wicked snowstorms. An extra set of clothes and a GOOD cold weather sleeping bag are also a good thing to have in the car all winter just in case.

Whiskey/Vodka
Food
Weed

I could just imagine finding you buried in a snow bank sleeping in a sleeping bag covered in piss and vomit from all the alcohol with Cheetos all over the place

That damn windshield washer fluid gets me every year. Other than that my car is basically winterized year round.
