Why must my local resort suck so much!
There is an airbag coming to the tiny resort local to the St. Louis area. Instead of putting it on one of the runs away from the main lifts they are putting out front where you have to ride the lift used by all the beginners. It is a 310ft hill and having the lift stop 3 time on the way to the top is not uncommon. Not to mention the long lines where you once again have to deal with the newbs. Their reason for this. They want it viewable from the lodge. What purpose does that serve? Anyone not going to the other runs shouldn't be on the airbag.
This is just the latest in the shit management of the resort. Stuff like having no clue how to build jumps. (Think super tall poppy ramps with short mellow step down landings.) Closing the park 5 hours before close on a Saturday night to begin rebuilding the features. Not having real beginner features for working out new tricks. Not grooming the landings of features for an entire 18 hour weekend day while grooming the run up once an hour. Never being clear on their facebook or website what is and isn't open and what is built.
What makes all this worse is that I was at Snowstar in the quad cities Saturday. A resort that is even smaller. In 4 hours there I had more fun then 5 times I've been to my local. They had jumps that were made correctly. Plenty of stuff for people of all skill. And that was despite the fact that the airbag was there and the whole layout had to be changed away from what they were used to. And they put the airbag away from the main run and out of site of the lodge.
