Long.....
I went into a back country gate alone at Beaver Creek not knowing where I was going. It was fucking stupid, but the things I do to find the snow. I hiked out pretty far and dropped in where there were other tracks. The run was loaded with rocks and I tried to find an escape. Followed this other track and got clifted out on a chute. It looked like a slide path. There was a little bit of snow mixed in with dirt, rocks and moss. It was super steep. I did not know what to do, so I unstraped. It was rocky and I slipped. I dropped my board by accident. It went flying down the chute and crashed into a tree. Meanwhile I was hanging on some roots I grabbed. I got a hold of a pine tree and hugged it while looking at my snowboard well below. Fuck! the chute was mossy and so slick. Big stabby rocks everywhere. I was so scared, especially after almost sliding down the whole thing. I almost lost my board too. It took forever to get down, I was monkey baring trees and grabbing rocks for my life. I did think I was going to die when I slipped. I have broke bones and cartwheeled down a double black, but this was the scariest thing to ever happen. Plus it sucked getting out of there because it flattened out into waist deep snow. Watching my snowboard haul ass down a chute scared me too. HUGE MISTAKE AND I SHOULD KNOW BETTER. |

I always lose my weed and shit...but I take comfort in that usually someone finds it and enjoys it. One time I was behind them on the lift they found my j's and smoked one and gave me one back it was pretty awesome.

Had my friend's keys to the truck in my jacket pocket... during the day, it unzipped (it zips bottom to top... fucking stupid) and at some point the keys fell out and I did not notice. We got back to the truck at the end of the day and my friend asked for the keys. Everyone thought I was joking when I went, "OH SHIIIIIT!" Luckily they were near the bottom and not buried under snow. Still haven't lived it down.

I haven't had time to fail epically quite yet, but I have a whole lifetime ahead of me to do that.
But um, I'd like to know what a lippack is. Google was no help. Unless it's something horrible. Or is it just those little things of chapstick you can attach to somewhere on your jacket?

Ohh, thank you! And that just shows how little I know...of the world. That should be fail in itself.
![]() Oh actually I do have one! On my 5th day out, I took the lift to the top of the mountain. I had seen on the map that there are blues all the way down and thought "ok, I can handle blues". Boy, was I wrong! I get to the top and there's a bowl. And crazy wind. After a long time of walking along the edge and considering, I decide to just strap in and give it a go - only because I didn't want my face frozen off. Then I slip from my sitting position at the edge of the bowl and slide down on my arse about halfway before finally figuring out that I can stop myself with my board. Must have looked hilarious, but I really thought I might die up there. Not trying that again for a while, me needs to practice! And learn how to navigate the mountain, I need to do that too... |
