First time experiences/injuries? - Snowboarding Forum

I just recently tried snowboarding for the first time at my local resort. I did not take a lesson and went with my friends... I can def say I left with a bruised derrière and sore wrists

it was fun though!

Same, butt and wrists. I couldn't stand up from my butt so I'd roll over to my stomach to get up... Which is fine until your heel edge catches, then it's all bad from there. My head hurts just thinking about it ha

Yes, falling backwards on the slope isn't the most pleasant feeling...

I have been riding 7 years and have definatly bruised my ass and hips. Hurt my wrists. Broken 3 ribs and my right leg.... I'm sure there are more injuries but I can't think of them now.....

First day snowboarding.... Well, after falling on my butt all day I did it one more time, but on ice. Next,I told my family I was going to quit snowboarding and going back to skiing. After a week of skiing I went back to snowboarding and had a blast! success

Broke wrists are # 1 injury...I strongly recommend wrist guards.

You fell uphill (washed out) or downhill (caught an edge)? The former is more tolerable.
Catching an edge and falling downhill can be anything from minor to getting something fixed at the hospital.

Our first time out was the day after Christmas this year. It had been dumping so the million and one times I fell it was pretty much on a pillow. The next week we went back and it hadn't snowed since the first time out. I was bruised all over. I sprained my thumb on the third trip, but nothing a little sport tape can't handle.
