Default December Conditions in Whistler?

Hey guys, as I've posted elsewhere my family and I are travelling to Whistler in early December for a couple of weeks snowboarding and I was wondering what conditions we can expect in the two weeks prior to Christmas, both snow and weather-wise (or any other useful info). Can anyone provide some insight?

Thanks.

when i was there at that time; only some of both mountains were open and all but one day saw rain in the village.

for sure things were a bit more snowy up top, but we suffered a sustained 'pineapple wind' of mild southern air coming up to make everything more wet and slushy than fine and powdery.

but hey.... that part of the 'fun'.

Yeah, I'd heard it can be good and/or bad. Here's hoping it's good this year. TBT, it would have to be pretty bad to be worse than here for the last 8/10 seasons.

absolutely!

one good thing.... they do excellent customer service, if in guest relations you raise your voice and kick up a stink!

being a euro weenie, i am used to buying multiday ski passes to get fat discounts.

but due to the mountain being only partially open, the most they would sell us, were 3 day passes. now with us being there for over 14 days, no amount of 3 days passes were gonna come close in total lift pass fees.

and so paolo got bolshy.

to chillax me, they gave me at least the price difference in lodge vouchers for both of us! ca-ching!

this meant we ate chilli in a bread bowl until fat bellied everyday. a tip top situation for us as we were self catered and supermarket food is aboot as pricey as dining out each night!

credit to W-BC staff; they turned my frown upside down!

I wonder how much you had to bitch to get that accomplished

But yeah snow conditions in early December are unpredictable anywhere you go. I would be scared of traveling during that time of the year, specially if I spending a lot of money.

it took about 5 minutes of chatting to the initial ticket seller; a tug of war of "i want 14 days" versus "i can only sell you 3" before the manager came.

and then about 4 minutes of "this is rediculous", "this is a skank", "it gets more expensive the longer you stay" and various other words from the writers of the thesaurus to unsettle their intellect in front of their underlings...

before a 5 minute wait resulted in 4 lots of 3 day tickets each and few hundred bucks of dinner vouchers! rah!

damn, that was a good deal.

I don't think I have ever gotten anything that good out of complaining.

the key is to progressively get louder and more frowny. if you can start off by smiling, they will be lulled into thinking you are a passive pussy; a good starting point.

swearing and threatening sadly bring discussions to an abrupt end these days (oh for the good old days...)

long words and a diversified arguement also make them fear that the situation could go on for some time... keep something in reserve for when you hit a brick wall; if the arguement reaches an impasse, then you lose.

and a really compelling decider is to go for it when there is a healthy queue formed behind you (giving them an audience to face) especially when people have just arrived, and / or when their shift is about to end.

believe, you pay more than you should for everything... and i mean EVERYTHING! shit, in the past i have bartered the price of a pack of rizla!

I started a blog last season which you will find useful - basically I wrote a small post each day about the snow and weather. Here is the archive for Whistler snow conditions December 2007

I reported 29 out of the 31 days. While no two years are the same, it will give you an idea. In a few years time, it should be a good resource for questions like this.

What's even more helpful than hearsay (and stunning witticisms on how to cash in big via whinging) is science! Check this mutha out! Note also the absolutely disappointing snowfall this November compared to last year and especially the year before. Finger's crossed this piss-poor weather shapes up!
