Hey bro..I am in Vancouver, Wa. and work at Meadows. Do a bit of hiking and BC riding. No sled, though I have a few freinds who have them. Mt. Theilson is epic later in the year if you do it by cat or sled.

I need to look into Bailey more. I have heard the same as you about it. Epic conditions to be had there. Meadows is talking about changing our backcountry policy with the Forest Service to make it more like Mt. Baker with gates. If this gets done, there will be some amazing trips to be had with a vehicle shuttle on HWY 35!! Our new GM is from Jackson Hole and rumor has it he has had some good luck with this type of thing. Timberline offers some good backcountry for building the kind of features you are interested in. I probably won`t be hitting them, but am a good cameraman..

Yeah, keep in touch. I know the mountain very well. Mississippi Head to the north of Timberline is an easy area to get to and has some insane terrain to play on. White River Canyon is also great and out of Meadows, to the east takes you into Newton Canyon. It is a bit of trudge out through the woods, so a split or snowshoes are a must to get back to 35.

Here is an easy hike to area above Palmer at Timberline. Basically, you climb up to Illumination rock, then ride down to the cliffs on Mississippi Head then traverse back over to Timberline. Easy to do in a few hours.

Yeah, unless it is severe clear with no chance of clouds, I always carry GPS with coordinates and a USGS topo map and compass. One afternoon in early spring I hiked up to the volcanic vents above Crater Rock and the mountain got socked in bad. Could not see more than about 50 feet and had to ride down to the lodge by GPS totally blind. It was horrible trying to ride with no visual references. Made the lodge dead on acurate though...

I did a little bit of hiking this winter and 10 minutes after i reached my target it tumbled in hard, everything white, couldn't see more than 3 metres in front of me(about 10 feet). Had to side slip/go slowly back down following my boot imprints in the snow

hiked it again the next day and got a perfect fresh line
