Default Put a vacation request in

for my Whistler trip in Jan. My boss told me I chose the worst week possible. I explained to her that my dad (who's buying the tickets) already finalized it, and she said they'd hire a temp.

Its a new job, and I hate screwing things up like that. But my dad bought the tickets before I was hired, and I really am too excited about this trip to miss it.

I can always get a new receptionist job, if worse comes to worse. Hopefully it won't come to that!!!! It'd suck to be looking for work, again!

My boss is really nice... hopefully I am doing a good enough job to overlook an ill timed vacation!

Did you let them know about it prior to being hired?

yeah, fuck 'em. snowboarding for a week at Whistler definitely beats out any dead-end receptionist job.

January being the worst week ever? Generally that is one of the slower months for most companies. Everyone usually wants time off for the holidays. I get the feeling, that by this reaction you could have picked any date, anytime of the year and they would have said the same thing. You haven given them plenty of heads up, just go and don't worry about it.

Apparently they have annual conferences that week.

Thanks for the support, peeps. I feel better now!

I'm not gonna let it get me down about an awesome trip. Snowboarding is literally one of my life's greatest joys!

Hopefully, it'll be all good. If not, there are other receptionist jobs in the world!

Oh, and I probably should of told them about it before I got hired... since I knew about it then. It seemed pretty far off, but at least I gave them plenty of notice!

Canada, here I come!

they should deal with it, since it was already decided before you were even hired.

however, you should have let them know from the start that you would be away on those dates.

Yeah, for real, you can't define your life based on the whims of the douche who signs your paycheque. Just gotta go. I mean, global warming is a great reason to hurry thyself up. The earth might melt away, and Burton hasn't developed anything for magma yet. Get on your board now. As the beloved Warren Miller always says, "You can always do it next year, but you'll be another year older by the time you do it."
