Yeah, same down here in Oregon....got a great start and I hit Meadows two weeks ago (hiking) and had 4 feet of Pow. A warm, Pacific system came through and the snow level went up to 10,500 and it rained hard for a week, washing it all away. We are now back to square onew, waiting for snow. Looks like it is going to be the first season in a decade that we are not open on Thanksgiving. It seems like every year, the season starts later and later.....

Gotta love that myth of global warming eh?

I went to Loveland last Thursday for the dealer demo days. Took out 8 boards and 7 binders for the day. Terrain was limited and really didn't get me that stoked. I was so unmotivated I couldn't drag myself to go to Copper on Sunday even though I have a pass there. Some decent enough looking trip reports came out from the backcountry around here. Looks like I should have tried to do that on Saturday. With the lame warm up this week, I'll have to wait for the next decent storm before trying to earn some terms. Looking like Thanksgiving weekend will be the next best shot for that. Lame...

Yeah, it was horrible. So much rain and snowmelt occurred that my friend in Hood River said the Hood River was running so high under the railroad bridge that is was almost at the stage it was back in 2006 when we had that glacial outburst that washed out Hwy 35. If I had a damn dry suit, I would take the raft out this weekend.
The forecast is calling for cool down with snow levels dropping to 2500 feet later this week. I hope this is the one that sets it for the season. Maybe a few days later, it will get down your way...

If I had a damn kayak I would have taken the damn kayak out.

I watched the meteorologist meeting video on the Meadows site and those guys said we should have a killer season, but a short one. They went on to predict a great couple of decades coming up for snow sports.

Also, my buy one get one lift ticket coupons from Expo expire before December in most cases. I better get to use them!

Dont woory, by December it always gets epic. On Mt. Hood a weekend can make the difference. When the storms start slamming into us from the Gulf of Alaska, you will see the snow pile in feet. Last winter, we recieved 8 feet in a weekend from a big system.

*crosses leg* Ahem. Anyways. As long as the mother-in-law isn't here when the epic snows sweep in. I don't think I'd get points for ditching her.

No worries, bring her along and if you go to Timberline, the Lodge is the most beatuful building you have ever seen and the lounge by the massive fireplaces with a bottle of wine will keep her plenty happy while you go ride. At Meadows, while nothing like Timberline, the Alpenstube and a bottle of wine will do the trick...if not there are tree wells.....

I love Tline for the atmosphere. On Friday nights I like to ride there because it is so chill and uncrowded. About halfway through my night I head in to the Rams Head bar and warm up with a Ice Axe IPA by the fire, catch a slight buzz after a couple then finish my night. The terrain at Tline is pretty vanilla, but it is alwasy well groomed and you can haul ass. It is uncrowded and peacefull. Meadows gets so hectic at night with the bus loads of high school kids that I will sometimes bug out early and hit Tline on my way home for the environment there.

She hates snow and doesn't drink. What are the odds you hold a late-night Bible study?

I've heard about Timberline and I'm looking forward to it too. The thing about Oregon that I'm not used to is that I can have so many "first rides" here. There are a dozen great places and I can probably hit each on at least once this year. I'm looking forward to all of them.

So is there anything new at Meadows this year besides the magic carpet that i got for the extra $44 bucks for my season pass Lol?

Man atleast they should throw in a free season ski check or something...

Oh and Snowolf..do all 50 platnium season passes sell every season? Its mind boggling that someone would pay 2k for up front parking and a few other things...they should get to cut in every lift line or something for that price lol..
