How many season passes...

So having a look at the cost of season passes for this year, and what i want, i have decided on buying for more than 1 resort and hitting the snow even more this year...

Who is buying what and how much...?

Remember i live in Norway, so the choice is less but the distance from home is more relative...

Kongsberg

Cost 3470 Nok = $575
Distance 42.2 km
Times 9am-9pm 7 days a week

Oslo Winter Park Tryvann

Cost 1995 Nok = $330
Distance 45.2 km
Times 10am-5pm Mon-Thurs 10am-10pm Fri

SkiStar (Hemsedal, Trysil, Sälen, Åre and Vemdalen)

Cost 5245 Nok = $865
Distance Hemsedal 247 km, Trysil 251 km
Times Hemsedal 9am-4:30pm 7 days, Tues-Sat 6pm-8:30pm
Trysil 9am-4:30pm 7 days, 4:30pm-8pm Tues-Fri-Sun

So a big chunk of change on passes this year for sure, but getting old, and if i don't do it now, then i will regret it... ;)

Total $1770

Oh and that does not include family or the kids, so Sneaky will be on day passes everywhere apart from Kongsberg, and his will be about $500 just for Kongsberg... ;)

Living on the east coast I just can't justify the stupid costs of our season passes for what you get. I don't want to ride 1 small mountain all season AND pay out of the ass for it (approx $800-1,000 for ~1,600 feet of vert and 250 acres). So, I'd much rather get a few discount lift cards from different mountains in NY and then do several bus trips to VT. I bought 6 bus trips from a local shop to VT for '13/'14 already.

It is a killer, but the cost of a season pass, seriously outweighs the days...

The one i thought seriously about way the Oslo Winterpark, but as i can board everyday for the price, it made sense, as that is like 6 days and i have my money back, and it not so busy weekdays as well... Haha

The others are must haves, the local resort for me being Kongsberg is not really local, but is worth the trip, and most of my mates board there, so that is a given, the other one is kind of hard, 12 days is saving money, so 4 weekends and i am on course for a saving, and with a choice of slopes with that, it kind of makes sense...

Might have a rethink though, just hate paying for days when i do more, and i always manage to do 100 days in a season, so it just depends on where i will be now... Haha

I was there a few times last year, i actually live in Drammen, so i am dead in the middle of Tryvann and Kongsberg, but with the tolls into Oslo being a bit harsh it was always easier to do Kongsberg...

But now they have the new 6 man lift and the superpipe as well on the opposite side of the hill from Holmekollen and the road into the carpark there avoids the tolls and can be easily done from Sandvika, which makes it so much easier, but i don't need the same pass as i would in kongsberg, as i would still use there for long days, lesson days and some weekends... ;)

Just one for me at $399 for the Arizona Snowbowl. I couldn't be happier about the price remaining the same with the new powder alliance deal. I've got a trip planned for Mt. Hood and Stevens Pass, so that alone covers the cost making riding at home free.

Angel Fire, NM... $249

Included last two months of last season, all this summer (hiking, biking, special events), and all 2013/14 season.

Also good for three lift tix at EACH of the following:

Ski Apache, NM
Pajarito Mountain, NM
Sipapu, NM
Ski Cooper, CO
Monarch Mountain, CO
Arizona Snowbowl, Az
Bridger Bowl, Mt
China Peak, Ca
Crested Butte, Co
Mountain High, Ca
Mt Hood, Or
Schweitzer, Id
Sierra/Tahoe, Ca
Snowbasin, Ut
Stevens Pass, Wa
Timberline, Or

I doubt I'll make it to more than 11 or so of these, but it's a cool way to check out new spots and save a few bills on shorter trips! Plus Mt High is very close to where I stay in LA when I'm out there.

Would love to get a "millenium pass" for Taos, but $600 is kind of steep for a limited pass, and I'm not gonna drop a grand on the full one.

This is the second year for the RCR Rockies Super pass this year. We had to buy by June to get the early early bird deal. Still $1350 or so CDN each pass! That gets me:

Fernie - 3500 vert ft - 3 hrs drive
Kicking Horse - 4200 vert ft - 3 hrs drive
Kimberley - 2500? vert ft - 4.5 hrs drive
Nakiska - 2500 vert ft - 1 hr drive
Lake Louise - 3000 vert ft - 2 hr drive

No blackout dates, all resorts open 9-4 or so, first resort opens end of Oct, early Nov, last resort closes mid-May... :yahoo:

I did 36 days last year on that pass, so worked out to about $40 a day or half the price of ticket window passes.

My kongsberg pass last year was 3460kr or $586 and i did 106 days there, so $5.50 a day... ;)

It is 355kr or $59 for a day pass, so i was in credit in November as i did 14 days before the 1st December... Haha

Tahoe Local Pass $460. Good for Kirkwood/Heavenly/Northstar.

I do a lot of day trips and I tend to go more if I don't have to think about the money every time I go.
Also it's nice not feeling guilty about cutting a day short if I'm tired or the conditions are not great.

$1589+ tax for Whistler Blackcomb unlimited. Coulda been $13 something if I had bought in May like I wanted to...
$700 for gold pass at Cypress... prob coulda got the silver, oh well.

Lots of money, hopefully lots of riding. I did close to 40 days last year buying tickets at the window at like 6 or 7 different resorts, none of them with deals to each other. Hopefully this year works out better.
