Anybody having trouble with online ordering from the-house.com at the moment?
I'm trying to buy some gear for the wife but every time I try to check out the last step times out and the order doesn't process properly. I've tried emailing them twice now over the last week but it's obviously too difficult for them to reply to their customers...
I'm having it shipped to Salt Lake City so I can pick it up from a mate in a month or so. Hence it shouldn't be an issue. The billing address is just different to the shipping address. I've done this plenty of times previously and it hasn't been a problem.
I ordered bindings from them last Wednesday or thursday and they were at my house on Saturday. Love The house. Can you try calling them, or is that cost prohibitive?
I had hassles buying from AU with the house a few years ago. Ended up taking about 30 emails over a few weeks as they were slooow to reply. Then they charged my card $3.52 or something and I had to get my statement and quote the amount they charged before they would send the stuff.
IMO they just cbf'd dealing with anyone outside the US
Yeah I've had to do the same thing with REI previously, although those guys were nice and quick and it wasn't a hassle. I'd certainly go back but house is the only mob with the stuff skis my wife wants and at a great price.
I think the issue is credit card fraud which is very common. If there is a fraudulent transaction the bank just take the money back and the seller loses out, the house has probably been burned before and is now very wary.
My card was cancelled last week due to a fraudulent transaction of $6.00 from a motel in the US. If the small transaction works they go to town on your card.
Its the second time in 12 months its happened, both times in the US, both times at motels. They probably buy the details from the spammers you see on here from timt to time selling bulk credit card details they hack from websites.
Just to follow up with this, I ended up blanket emailing every email address on the house help page and did end up getting a helpful response.
The issue was related to processing an international credit card as I suspected, they sent me through an international authorisation form to fill out before placing the order and a few instructions on how to work around this issue through the cart process and after that it worked fine.
So there you go, took a little while but in the end they were most helpful. Just didn't want to leave this thread looking like a slap to their face without letting you guys know that they were good as gold in the end.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
