Hey guys, does anyone have any experince in shipping a board from the US to the UK?

There are several online stores that offer shipping at very reasonable rates. For example daddiesboardshop will ship via USPS priority international for 56$ or DHL express worldwide for 69$.

Tactics offer shipping for 72$ via UPS worldwide expedited.

When I try and get a quote though I am getting numbers more like 300$.

Does anyone have any advice or websites that they can recommend?

Thanks.

I seem to remember reading on the Tactics website that the item may be subjected to customs, tariffs, VAT, sales tax, or general brokerage fees, which they aren't responsible for. I.e you will have to pay taxes on it when it comes through, and these costs are your responsibility. I decided it would be easier to simply buy one from England. I bought from ss20.com but theboardbasement.com had some decent stuff too. If you look around, you can find some decent deals.

There's also a website called idealo.co.uk which you can search for an item, and it'll find all the offers for them. Decent website.

you guys should get someone like me or a friend here to buy a board, ride it for a run and then ship it as a xmas/bday present.

would require a level of trust obviously but would probably save you a little cash and open up your shopping options.

Yep, my bad, I'm wrong, getting mixed up with the EU, apologies.
Duty is 3.7% with 20% VAT
If the value of the board is below a certain level then you pay no duty, although I'm not sure what the threshold is, on a $300 board you'd pay no duty but would pay VAT (so I was almost right)
If you go to www.dutycalculator.com there is a handy tool, just plug the numbers in and it works it out for you :)
