I might be going to Steamboat. If that doesn't happen that it's either A. Vail Pass (having a blast there) or B. A day in the Alpine chuting on Berthoud Pass. I'll let you know.

Default Buffalo Mountain TR 5/4/08

Reprinted from TGR, Tom's write up is quite good.

Splitboard kooks & tele wannabes: NPG, CG, killclimbz, fortysix&2, tiptoptune

Here's a shot of Denver's skyline around 6 in the morning as seen from Golden:

The only one in our group to have done Buffalo before was fortysix&2 who had a bit unfortunate descending experience. So we decided to take extra precautions towards ensuring that we make it back to where we started. Of course, a GPS device would be the obvious choice, but we must maintain a very elevated TGR "keeping it real" factor:

Just like the previous day, the blue skies, the warm weather, and the lack of wind made everything perfect. Of course, the skin up was a bitch, but when you peak over your shoulder occasionally, you are reminded why you're out here in the first place:

Anyone care to claim these rather ambitious lines? Pretty sure the first one is from Saturday and the second photograph was taken within minutes of the line being completed:

fortysix&2 and tiptoptune nearing the false summit:

And now a word from our favorite Tahoe-based ski companies with Lake Tahoe photoshopped into the background:

Why did we do this again? Oh yeah, the skiing and snowboarding.

And a little further down:

CG turns into the Child of the Corn and kicks some snow into my direction:

I give it a go but was too fast for CG:

Luckily, we had another camera out:

A look back at the gang rape:

Now the fun begins. Just how the fuck do we get out of here?

CG leads the bushwacking which is a most pleasant 2+ hours well spent.

We ran into a patroller flying solo who reached the summit in 2:15. That's just nuts.

The group makes it back to the trailhead with frowns all about:

A quick look back at what we did ....

(red = ascent, blue = descent, yellow = hell

And now it's time for bier:
