I live outside Philadelphia and have off Monday. A buddy and myself are talking about driving to either Vermont or New York for the day. I know it is a lot of driving but anything to ride...right? Anyway, Hunter Mountain came to mind as did Gore Mountain and Mount Snow. It appeard Gore and Mount Snow received about 13-14" this past week so we are thinking of skipping Hunter and going to better conditions even though it will be about a 5 hour drive. UGH.
Hunter may get freezing rain on Monday so we may pass.
do yourself a favor and skip the NY mountains for now. I've been up to both Mt. Snow and Stratton... I rode Stratton on Tuesday after it dumped on them Monday. realistically Mt. Snow and Stratton should be about the same amount of time for you to get to, and I think Stratton is the better mountain personally. I like Mt. Snow but it has a tendency to get slammed on the weekends and Stratton is just a better overall mountain with some real nice runs. Also has a Gondola to take you to the summit where snow doesn't have that.
The weather is shaping up to be pretty bad with freezing rain and sleet so I may be skipping for now. It was looking nice for a while then it gor warm and along came the sleet and feezing rain.
