I heard that conditions in AUS are kind of icy, does the same hold true for NZ.

What are differences in elevations of the tallest peaks of the two countries?

Talking Coronet Peak

"Coronet Peaks new snow guns fired for the first time today in preparation for season opening next Saturday (7 June).

Snowmaking will add to Coronet Peaks unprecedented 60cm snow base - the best early season snow cover the mountain resort has had in years.

One hundred and forty one new TechnoAlpin Italian snow guns bring Coronet Peaks total to 203 fully automated snow guns.

As part of Coronet Peaks $30 million plus redevelopment, the snow guns will deliver snow across all trails and help produce a system believed to be one of the worlds largest and most sophisticated.

James Coddington, CEO of NZSki Ltd says that snowmaking at Coronet Peak will be the closest thing you can get to guaranteeing the snowsports season.

The result will be more skiable terrain from opening day and vastly improved skiing and riding surfaces throughout the season."
