yea there hoping to have some of the upper mountain open of turoa by the weekend.

they had about 20cm fresh today...should bring the base up over a metre so its startin to look good especially with three more days snow forecasted.

wednesday is looking like a pretty good day with all the new snow and clear skies.

Doubt it, they'll have to do some avalanche control and then bust out the snowcats and create the trails, knowing RAL it'll be good to go by... maybe tuesday.

Whakapapa projected lift opening dates
Happy Valley - After being anihilated by rain soon after opening, Happy Valley is definitely ready to go again from this Saturday.
Rockgarden - All this snow means that we will have the Rockgarden open this Saturday. It's groomed and ready!
Waterfall Express - The groomers are working on forming trails on the Express now and anticipate that it will be ready early next week.
Valley, Knoll Ridge and Waterfall T-bars - We need about 20-30cm more snow for work to commence on building T-bar lines. It's still snowing now and there's more in the forecast for the next few days so this shouldn't take long.
West - The T-bars above need to take priority over the west as they provide the main access to this area. We'll keep you posted on progress as the T-bars are prepared.

Turoa projected lift opening dates
Alpine Meadow - Man-made snow kept the top platter at Alpine Meadow going even after the rain but now, thanks to all this natural snowfall, we'll have both platters and the brand new Sunkid Carpet Lift going from this Saturday!
Movenpick and High Flyer - Will both be going this Saturday, giving us the first upper mountain skiing of the season!
Giant - Will be going from early next week.
Wintergarden and High Noon Express - Will be ready by Friday next week - in time for school holidays!

"Turoa has the biggest snow base at this time of year since 1992." Snow.co.nz

I think I'm going to have to drink for a couple days straight, so the time can just blur and pass quickly to I head down on thurs.

If your name was Mt. Ruapehu and you where snowed on this week(1.53-1.81 metres... and still going) you would look like this on your webcams(the ones that are still working):

Whakapapa

Hut Flat

Base
