Don't forget that Heavenly and some of the others (I think Northstar is one) also run mountain biking in the summer, which means (while not as much as during winter) they do still need staff at the resorts, including lifties and lodge employees. Can't remember if they do bike rentals or not, but maybe... So there
might be some openings in the resort field if that's where he wants to go. I'd be willing to wager the most money for an entry level job is gonna be in construction this time of year. I know a lot of people that live up where I usually go (Dodge Ridge, a couple hours south of tahoe) A lot of the kids who just work at the resorts in the winter work at campgrounds and the marina at the lake up there, so you could try those seasonal jobs. Seems like the best idea though is to do as TJ says, get a relatively regular job that is year round and then work part time at the slopes in the winter. The people I know that do that seem like the most sane of my friends that live up by Dodge.
