Increase in spammers

We have seen a large influx of spammers over the past few weeks.

Are there some filters we can add to the sign up process to try to deter them?

The flaming that has been going on has been very entertaining!!!
Not much else happening this early in the season. We are 90 days out till we get cold enough to make snow here

I would add in a snowboard specific question that needs to be answered correctly to help screen.

Schools will be back in session soon, so I'm predicting the survey posts will be on the rise in short order.

Also thought of this but what question can't be Googled for an answer these days.

If it's not spam bots but spam humans, it'll be a bit more difficult to filter I'd think.

Captcha codes and mandatory no-posting waiting period for new users. We found that the latter deters most human spammers and trolls.

Minimum numbers of posts required to start new threads. Lots of forums put that number at 100.

This is a good idea except they've already been posting spam within existing threads from what I've seen.

Just to let you all know. We have added an extra layer to the registration process that should help thwart spammers as of today. Keep reporting the spammers if they get through, hopefully we'll see number of posts go way down.

The 10 character minimum has been there for as long as I can remember.
