Good beginner boarding in NC. - Snowboarding Forum

Hello All,

I am new to boarding and I am bringing a few friends up to NC to learn snowboarding with me. We currently are not sure where to go and are looking at Ski Beech, Sugar Mountain, and Appalachian Mountain. I am just curious which of these places would be good for beginners as I want them to have fun.

Last year I went out to sugar mountain and thought that was a decent place for beginners. In fact my brother just got back there and liked it a lot as well and he's a beginner so yeah. Sugar mountain is pretty decent.

where you going from? im in GA riding up this weekend to NC. Most likely cataloochee though.. unless i can talk people into something else

Just got back from Sugar. It was amazing. Compared to the first place I went, ober gatlinburg TN, this was way bigger and had a lot more to offer. Not to mention that at tenn I was at the top of the mountain after 4 runs on the easy. The Blue square at sugar is equal to if not harder than the left side of the green run at sugar, and the Blue was just amazing! Had a ton of fun will probably go back in feb around the 20th, then plan on heading up to SnowShoe unless I can find somewhere better before then.
