Looks like there will be a single ticket for both mountains among other things.
"...much of the Tahoe ski industry is being transformed by Colorado money. It's becoming less about skiing and snowboarding, and more about developing full-service resorts with shopping, restaurants, high-end lodging and other amenities."
That would really suck to have to pay a single-price/single-ticket if I only have interest in riding Alpine and not Squaw. It's the reason I rarely go to Northstar with my kids anymore (well, among other things, but that's a different post), because the kids ticket is a two-out-of-three-consecutive-days ticket. You don't have a choice to buy a single day kids ticket there anymore. I feel like I'm getting ripped off from the get-go.
The Sac Bee article writes:
"That would make Tahoe less dependent on day-trippers and weekend guests from Sacramento and the Bay Area, and more of a destination for well-heeled visitors from around the world."
Boo for us Bay Area folks.
Looks like Homewood and Kirkwood for me this season.
Yeah it's pretty lame that they are trying to discourage day-trippers and weekend warriors. Mid-week day trips have always been the best! Good thing there are still plenty of smaller mountains that aren't looking for that "mega resort" vibe (Kirkwood, Homewood, Sierra, etc...).
