Mt. High Newbie

Hey Folks,

So I am currently working away from my home. Two things I found out:

1.) I'm coming from Houston to LA tonight for work. I'll have a free day on Friday, which I will use to drive to Mt. High and board.

2.) I realized all my gear is at my house in Austin.

--

My questions are:

1.) How do you think the conditions for Mt. High will be for Friday? Icy? Slush? Nice groomers?

2.) How late is the Rental Shop open so I can grab boards/boot/bindings?

3.) Realistically, how long is the drive from LA to Mt. High.

Thanks to you locals for answering my questions.

Hopefully you get this in time, but it'll would be better to spend the extra 30 min (if that) to make the drive to Big Bear. I think it a much better hill to ride with better snow conditions typically. I have yet to be to either this season, but that's what I've known to be true in the past. Either place is still fun ride.

Can't answer your first two questions (never rented at mt. high either). But your drive time all depends on what part of LA your leaving from. I'd suggest to go early as possible, so you can avoid most of the traffic. Took me an hour last year coming from San Fernando Valley, but it was also a weekend without morning rush hour.

Icy in the morning slushy later. Spring type conditions. It's 79 degrees in wrightwood right now. It's 85 where I am at in the Valley. I was at Mtn High last week and East was nice even tho they had one run open.

They have night sessions so I would imagine the rental shop is open, call or check the website.

LA is a HUGE place. Depends on where you are located. I live in Pasadena and can be there in about an hour....where are you staying exactly?

x2 on the rec to go to Big Bear. I'm going to BB tomorrow too!
