I live in Vegas but I don't go west I head NE into southern UT and ride Brian Head and Eagle Point. I don't really park ride I enjoy riding the steep stuff in pow. I don't mind cruisin groomers on occasion either. I would like to get into some back country but need someone to go with.

PS if you check out there is a Vegas snowboard group. I haven't hung out with any of them so I cant say if they are chill or not but it seems like most of them ride BH or mammoth and are mostly into park and groomers.

Do you do any touring? I am heading to Vegas at some point this winter to tour again. There is some sick terrain there that needs to be slayed.

I have never done any touring and dont really have the gear for it. I wouldn't mind getting into it though. I'm pretty new to Vegas and have only been there one winter, and it was a less than snowy one. I have heard from some of my mountain biking buddies, who also snowboard, say that there are some good lines to be had above the resort. I'm not sure how you would get to them though. I guess one could fork out the $60 dollars for a pass ride to the top of the resort and hike from there. I have a feeling the resort discourages that but if one was determined I'm sure you could get away with it.

Resort will not allow uphill traffic. There are tons of areas to just start skinning though. Yea the terrain above the resort is sick, but there are tons of sick lines all over those mountains.

Yeah, I don't have a split board and I just got a new stick, so buying a split board is out of the question this season. Snow shoes on the other hand might be in the budget and if I get two sets, a pair for my wife, than I could probably get her to sign off on it lol. I went to military survival training in WA in February a few years ago when there was 4 foot of snow, so I have used snow shoes quite a bit. If I wasn't in Afghanistan I could do some summer hiking and mark some places on my GPS to go riding.... maybe ill do that for 2014/15.

i might be getting a season the brian head idk yet depends if i get a job up at lee or not because if i don't then i'm buying it at lee because its just so dang close

Dutch Ninja 09-12-2012 10:08 PM

Yeah, Lee is close especially for me because I live on the North end of town. The price for a pass up at Lee is rediculious last I checked. The terrain is... well its just not there. If you are into park riding and like jumps and stuff I can see why you would ride there but if you like riding pow and getting freshies pretty much all day than BH or EP are the way to go. Not to mention its like half the price so even though you have to burn a lot of gas it ends up evening out (haven't actually done the calculations). If you did get a pass to BH I would be willing to split gas with you but not room and board cause I sleep in my car... and there is only room for one lol. Oh and I have a very irregular work schedule so I would very rarely be headed that way during the weekend and I have a pass to EP so if I were to head that way during the weekend I would probably go there instead cause its better. So, basically once in a blue moon I might be able to actually car pool with you lol.

Oh, and if you are looking for a job I'm pretty sure Eagle Point is hiring help still.
