South Lake is going to be a little closer, Sierra, Heavenly and Kirk. But Kirk is the furthest from the lake I believe.

Honestly, it won't make a difference if you're visiting. Just pick the best resort and go (Squaw and Alpine are awesome, and everyone loves Kirkwood, Northstar is fun for park stuff and general messing around).

HoboMaster, at least those 3 hours gets you to some really cool places. Sierra, Squaw, Alpine, Northstar, etc.

Closest major resort is Mammoth and that's 6-7. Yeah price I pay to live in a nice beach city.

Seriously dude I feel you, I'm from Fullerton in orange county. Your drive to bear is only a half hour longer than me? weird. But for sure hatin how far mammoth is...mega bust.
