Went to Bear this past saturday for the first time. Previously have been to snow summit once and mt high 2 times. My only 4 times snowboarding. Loved the longer easy street run(since i am a newbie), which allowed me to really work on some techniques.

But the lines?? MY GAWD!!! *even the single rider line got ugly for a minute right after noon*

Will be back soon lol

Think I'm going to end up hitting big bear on Monday. Think I'm going to stay around summit though.

I am looking to take a girl up to the Big Bear slopes soon, probably mid-week. Any suggestions on where to visit after the mountain closes @ 4pm?

Like any art galleries, or things of that nature? Shes not the type to just go drinking at a bar.

Well if its a weekend, do some night boarding!!

On another note, anyone there this weekend that can give conditions? Obviously their reports won't be as accurate. Is it ice covered mornings followed by slush afternoons?

What part of town are you headed back too? Driving back down the mountain leaves you in San Bernadino...bleh..Though downtown Redlands has some nice shops and restaurants. That's near the bottom of the 330 or whatever that road is called. You could just park there and walk around, it's small but kinda cute. Everything closes at 9pm on a weekday tho!!! They have a nice Farmers Market on Thursday nights 6-9pm

Claremont is also another little town with a cute downtown-y area. That's a bit of a drive from BB. Remember, 4pm is rush hour traffic could be gnar depending on where you are headed. But you could also be going against traffic too.

Where do you or she live? And are you going to shower/change before you go out? Not that you need to dress up for anything in LA. Give me an area and I'll give you some help on where to take a chick.

If you're looking to stay in Bear after, you can always take her to the Village. Girls love it there. awesome little shopping center with big bear/mountain atmosphere. Restaurants, candy shops, gift shops, even a movie theater. Or you can always swing out to L.A. 'Nough said.

I live in Ventura county and driving back, I'd take the 330 to the 210 to the 134 to the 101. I'd like to find something to do on the mountain if possible since we are staying the night, but anything spectacular that we can hit on the way back home wouldnt hurt to know as well.

Last time I was there it was suuuper slushy afternoon... like the kind where your board feels really catchy and sluggish. Not sure about mornings.

Good idea, forgot about the village. Kinda looking for a more specific destination though, but we may wander around here if nothing else
