Big bear surface conditions - Snowboarding Forum

Looking for a REAL report. Obviously I could look at the websites but they'll all fluff it up. You'll never see one that says, "It sucks". The Mrs is on the fence about going thursday because she's worried it'll be all ice and hurt like hell when she falls. I said ice would melt early so maybe slush but not solid ice. Anyone been in the last 2-3 days? Thanks, in advance.

Nope. But I'd say, go on Friday or possibly Saturday.

Last time I went they got around 6 Inches up top it was nice.

Last I went was like 2 weeks ago and it was really hot and it was pretty much all ice.

Well, I was up there when they found Dorner's truck. It was very hard pack but not solid ice like I was expecting. Went again today and conditions were amazing. They got & made plenty of snow this past weekend. I was a bit surprised at how many people were there. Might go again tomorrow. Hopefully less crowd.

agreed. but...today did NOT suck. And from what I can tell? Friday and Monday were probably the shit...

I almost said the bomb but you know maybe a bad idea all things considered.

President's day weekend, beat the crowd and go Thursday. Planning on going to Mammoth this weekend and may regret the crowds, but I'm sure I can find some runs not too packed. Big Bore will get a bit slushy mid afternoon if the it's 40+....

The conditions today & yesterday were awesome. Taking three hours to get down the mountain did suck though. I got stuck in traffic while they searched every vehicle.

damn man, that does suck. Zombaco and I waited it out in a coffee shop checking traffic. We headed out around 5pm and had zero traffic going down...the traffic coming up looked kinda intense.

Tons of cops, chp and media vans lol!
