I have been snowboarding for about a year and a half now i can do 18o's 360's boxes and some rails i want to learn how to do a 540 and a kinked rail this year are they hard? tips would be helpful. i would also like to learn some different tricks i you have any that would be helpful too.

How do pro snowboarder do a 50 foot jump and land on the rails the make it seem easy but how hard is it really?

Thank you

umm...for the 5's its just going to take practice man. if you can throw a 360 pretty easily and if you can ride switch then its just going to take practice getting the rotation down.

the main thing about kinks is sucking your legs up towards your body or away from in order to compensate for the kink in the rail. its all about balance. it sounds like to me if you can ride a flat rail now then you just need to get to where you feel comfortable enough to try the kink. its not as tough as you're making it out to be...dont mean to sound cliche but practice makes perfect.

and the pros amaze me as well. i think its about 80% confidance after you've reached their skill level.

Not much help with the rails...sorry But, for the 540 you will need longer flight time to complete the extra 180 degrees of rotation. Some prewinding will help and making a quick edge change at takeoff adds a lot of energy to your spin....example, as you prepare to spin a BS 5, ride up the ramp flat based, then come in with a slight amount of heel edge to begin to slowly turn heelside. Just before the takeoff from a decent wedge, instead of ollieing off, make a quick, snap edge change toward your toe side, this, combined with an element of prewinding will really whip you around as you become airborne.

To do a decent 5, you be on a large enough feature with a steep enough ramp that doing an ollie is completely un neccessary, so increase spin rate, not height by timing this edge change at takeoff. It take some practice to get this timing diled in right, but then again everything in snowboarding does. I have not completely mastered this technique yet myself, but when I get the timing right, the rotation becomes much easier. When doing a 5, just remember that you need more air time to complete the spin so you have to go a bit bigger than what you hit for a 3.
