As for getting bigger air, the key here is progression. Just keep at at it and work your way up to bigger stuff. Do not listen to the "just go big" crap you hear. This kind of "advice" is what gets people hurt. They become convinced that approaching things reasonably is being a "pussy" so they huck themselves off something they have not developed the skill to master. I have seen too many people out of commission for the entire season because they get stupid as a result of some well intentioned yet ignorant person giving bad advice.

As you hit a feature, step it up gradually and come in with more speed. It is speed that is going to get you going bigger. Work on technique; once you get that down, speed will come all on it`s own.

^^^ Im going to have to disagree with wolf on this...

snowboarding is a gangsta! sport...I think I got as good as I did because of my buddies going "dont be a pussy"...gets me passed psyching myself out. You go big or you go home...thats how you do it.. but if you feel a twinge of fear..best not to approach because you will tweak yourself out.

Here's a good approach though:

Find a distance where you are comfortable hitting the kicker without checking...
next run increase the distance to build more speed and dont check...
keep increasing every run.

Hmmmm...kind of sounds like progression to me. See, we don`t disagree after all..

Seriously though, yeah this is exactly what I mean...you don`t start out as a newbie hucking yourself off 40 footers at top speed. Skill is a huge part of it. You can be totally fearless and still suck at snowboarding because you don`t know what youre doing. I may not have made point well enough...I definitely am an advocate that everyday you ride, you should do something that scares you; within reason.
